For those of you that are looking for a barebones option - whether for the assembled or kits
I have talked to our suppliers, they are more than happy to support that. However, since we cannot modify the structure of this drop (can only add in items but not split), I will create a separate barebones drop for those who are interested :) Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Xi
Looks pretty okay! Seems fairly inexpensive for a full metal 96-key, since it also includes switches and keycaps.
Although the keycaps don't look all that great (other profiles aren't shown) and the switch options are really mediocre. I much prefer kits that don't have keycaps or switches if there aren't any interesting potential options.
Very interested! I'd prefer the full-sized shift key on the right but that's just my opinion. Just let us configure our keys, please ;-) I'd love to replace that num lock / del with page up / down!
Most all keyboards in use are the 100% 104-key US QWERTY layout which is about 17 inches. Why does Drop insist on a non standard format that users will have to relearn to type. We save less than two inches and receive non standard arrow key placement, tiny shift keys, and a non standard num pad. This keyboard saves less than 2 inches and I need to relearn how placements I learned in middle school. This crunched up keyboard isnt more efficient if you want a crusade force everyone onto Dvorak or Colemak.
anon123C'mon, it's not like trying to switch to ortho or staggered layouts. I daily an 1800 layout and it really didn't take much of a learning curve at all. Like it or not, 100% fullsize keyboards are on their way out due to their bloated and outdated layout. 65% and TKL are the most popular sizes sold.
As you said, 100% is the most common layout, by far. But that also means there are literally thousands of options on the market, thousands of mostly similar options. One more cookie-cutter option from Drop, at a noncompetitive price point, is not exactly something everyone is clamoring for.
If someone developed a mechanical 104, 108 or 112 perhaps, with the features enthusiasts demand, and to the quality standards they are accustomed to, then you might see it on Drop. Then again, such a keyboard could cost as much as $500 and there would be very few buyers.
Hello, I recently purchased this keyboard and I'm quite pleased with the build quality. However, there seems to be an issue with several of the function keys for me:
The Insert key activates the home function.
The Home key activates the end function.
The End key activates page up function
The Page Up key activates the page down function.
The Page Down key activates the delete function.
The Delete key activates the - symbol.
Is there perhaps a way to remedy this issue?
Hey there! A bit late to the party, but I'm wondering how different the steps would be to resolve this on a Mac. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
EtheriosPrimeNever worked with a mac, also haven't touched this stuff in over a year. I do know it works really well doing everything on ubuntu and mac has a built in unix terminal so that may help. Big question is whether the flashing software exists for mac.
Still no update on when this will ship? Don't really understand how those who ordered the barebones kit received their orders weeks before this drop has even shipped when this drop had ended well before the barebones drop opened. I know some ordered it fully assembled but for those of us who ordered kits there shouldn't be a significant delay.
