Amare is a German venture with Real Steel Knives. This is a slipjoint with an extremely ergonomic, food-prep ready design. The millwork on the handle is outstanding -- very grippy, and the contours are perfect. Handle just sticks to your hand. See the contouring?

The blade opens with a lot of gravitas and some extremely well tuned pivot action. Feels like the door on a Bentley as you open it, with the slipjoint mechanism being a little springier than they often are. The question on a slipjoint is always, does the blade want to close on you when you're using it? If it's not so stiff that it's hard to open and close, you worry that you'll shave off a couple of fingers if the blade closes on your hand. Well, the slipjoint on this is -- I'll just say this, if more slipjoints were this firm I'd buy more of them. Great action. Feels lux.

Beautiful knife. Bharucha said he made this as a food prep knife, and that's exactly what the shape is optimized for. What that means is that you can put the edge of the blade in full contact with the cutting surface but there's still space under the handle for your fingers -- you aren't rapping your knuckles trying to dice things up. VG-10 steel is juuuust about perfect as far as I'm concerned for kitchen knives. Holds a decent edge, doesn't corrode, you can touch it up very quickly, won't chip and crack. The blade almost has a bit of a harpoon on the top -- gives it some real style. If I had to criticize this knife I'd say there's one medium drawback and one mild drawback to it. The medium drawback is that there's no nail nick. You're fingering up the metal when you open this knife. The mild drawback is, no clip. It'd ordinarily bother me more: if I was going to pocket this knife like a regular pocketknife I'd care more. But it's not really a pocket knife so much as it's a food prep knife that you can treat like a pocket knife if you want. This is something I would take with me if there was a chance I was going to end up cooking or prepping a meal in a place that wasn't my kitchen, or if I just wanted to show my friends what a Mighty Slipjoint looks like. It'll spend more time with cooking gear than it will in my pocket. So we got this knife for a steal -- not sure what drove the price this low. Maybe in order to get the material price they needed, RSK had to order more than Amare was going to order, and ended up with extra that they needed to move? Maybe this is a first run and they've added something to the next? No clue, but I'm really happy with this pickup. Awesome build quality. Five star knife, coming from a guy who's lukewarm at best on slipjoints. Oh, and for nicseth and DougFLA123:

A big chef folding knife which follow you every weeekend
This slip joint knife from Amare produced in collaboration with real steel will follow you all your weekend. First of all, a successful and original design that reminds me (French obliges) of those of the famous David Lespect.

The edge of the blade in vg10 offers a very thin part on almost half of the blade before thickening to reach 3 mm at the thickest point.

The coating of the plates having perpendicular striations, will allow you to prevent it from escaping from your hands.

The thickest part has a belly perfect for working in the kitchen and cutting effortlessly, helped in this by the weight of the knife (205 g / 7.23 oz) The generous height of the blade of 4 cm will cut large vegetables or large pieces of meat.

The handle, measuring almost 15 cm in length, allows you to approach food that is being prepared as well as to use the knife by the end of the handle.

Regarding the mechanism, I think of a forced notch even if the name seems imprecise, the heel of the blade does not come into contact with the spring. In this case it looks more like a cross between a compression lock and a forced notch. This is impressive because it opens and closes very smoothly while ensuring extremely secure locking.
search
The point of equilibrium of the knife is present behind the pivot, which makes it possible to feel very little the significant weight of the latter.

For the rest the assembly is perfect, the parts contoured and the sense of detail very thorough as for example at the level of the placement of the logo of the brand and the cutler. Last point, I do not know if it is a pre-series but it seems that we are entitled to a numbering (262 for my copy). In short, bravo Amare / Real Steel for the realization, and thank you Massdrop for the negotiated price.

Good knife, but fit and finish slightly lacking.
I'm overall pleased with the Amare Creator. The main issue I have is a small rattling sound that can be heard at the base of the handle. A small ping sound can be heard whenever I flip the knife over. Because of this small rattle, when I close the knife, it makes a cheap metallic sound. Regardless of the noise, as far as I can tell, it performs as intended, and feels good in hand. The slip joint is secure, but having a locking mechanism of some sort would still have been appreciated. My brother's a chef, and when I showed him this knife, at first he was envious. But once he saw the slip joint, it was a no go for him. I'm still a big fan of this knife, but others may take issue.

Awesome if you understand what you are getting
This knife is exactly what I was expecting and what it was designed to be, not an EDC but a large folding kitchen knife.   I used it yesterday to try it out and cut some fruit, vegetables, meat and cheese and it sliced everything very well thanks to the long and large blade. I purchase this knife because I have always wanted a Tashi Bharucha design but most are out of my budget. I also though that this was an unusual knife and that it would be a great addition to my collection. It did not disappoint! I will be keeping this knife in my kitchen drawer and even though I have a few chef's knives, I'll be using it once in a while, just for fun ;) This will also be my goto knife when going on family trips like picnics and camping.   This is a very attractive knife with great ergonomics and that slices very well. Thanks Tashi Bharucha! The fit and finish is excellent, especially at this price. Thanks Real Steel! This new patented slip joint mechanism is awesome and different from any other slip joint I have ever seen. The tension to open the knife is not too strong and it can be opened easily. Yet, to close the blade, the tension is much stronger and one really needs to put some effort into it in order to close it. Even though this knife doesn't have a locking mechanism, it will never close accidentally. Thanks Uli Hennicke! The moon glow back spacer is a bit of a gimmick, especially on this knife, and I would have preferred a regular G10 back spacer, but it doesn't bother me.   In this end, I am very happy with my purchase, especially for the price. For once, it looks like we had a real price DROP.   I really like the design and I would love if they would do a 3.25" or 3.5" liner lock variant for EDC. A pocket clip would need to be added and it could be either a hidden flipper Tashi is known for or a fuller or thumb stud for deployment, either would be nice. A faux-integral G10 handle Tashi is known for would be nice as well. Basically, I would like to see more budget friendly Tashi designs LOL!

Great for the kitchen, and you can take it into public (where I live)
This knife serves a very particular problem I've had over the years. If I want to cook anywhere outside my kitchen, I have to rely either on one of my folders or a knife of whomever I'm visiting. This one I can stick in my backpack and cycle wherever I want without having to be concerned about committing a crime. I was thinking of getting a Spydiechef for this purpose, but this is a much less expensive solution. Construction and overall quality seem solid to me, though I have not used it very much yet.

This is an awesome camp kitchen or any mobile kitchen knife
The knife is very well made, and I did a video review of the knife on my YouTube channel, so you could watch it if you want my full review of. Just search for "Canadian Cutting Edge Amare Creator" and you will find the full review there.

This knife is HUGE!!!
I didn't realize just how big this knife is until I received it...then I figured out that it is a folding Chef's knife. After using it in the kitchen, I recognized just how useful and amazing this knife is, the perfect shape for chopping, dicing and slicing!

Not a Pocket Knife
While you can put this in your pocket, this is more of a portable food prepping knife, at least for me. I say take it camping, break it out, unfold it, and slice and dice! You'll be the savior of camping cuisine that requires a fine blade. And this is sharp!

Big handle. Handy blade
The handle on this thing is surprisingly big. The non-locking action can make a person a little nervous but it's the perfect knife for a picnic, backpacking, camping, etc. Great blade shape for cutting and preparing food.
