The Red Scarf II+ is an improved version of the second generation of the very popular Red Scarf custom mechanical keyboard. Like the rest of the Red Scarf II family, its layout comes from the IBM Model F and has several variants, like the 77-, 68-, and 78-key layouts. This build-it-yourself kit—featuring a unique 78-key layout—consists of a PCB, clear acrylic bottom, and a CNC aluminum case, plate, and feet. It allows for customization of the RGB underglow lighting, layout (including ISO and ANSI), and color. The Red Scarf II+ is also fully programmable, allowing users to utilize the layout as they see fit.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of anodized aluminum color (Black, Gray, Red, or Silver). You’ll also have the option of adding the Essentials Pack (stabilizers and USB cable) and the Switches Pack (in your choice of Gateron, Cherry, or Zealio switches). You can also add a set of standard layout Blank or laser-etched Front-Printed PBT keycaps (Gray) in Cherry profile.
The white, blue, and orange keycaps shown in the photos here are from Overcast / Sci-Fi DSA.
The acrylic bottom allows the RGB LEDs, which are easily controlled via remote, to shine through the bottom of the board and reflect off your desk. With a simple click of the remote, it’s a breeze to change the lighting modes and colors on the fly, without the need for any complicated programming.
The 78-key layout consists of 68 keys—arrow cluster included—plus 10 function keys broken up into two rows of five on the far left side of the board. The modifier keys can be configured in a variety of ways to allow for you to fine tune the layout, as the board caters to both ANSI and ISO layouts. Should you choose to reprogram the Red Scarf, you can do so via LUFA's Bootloader Printer software.
