I have the 660s and the 6xx. If I play SHADY GROVE, a music video, with the 660s the Doc Watson voice I hear to be scratchy and shrieking. my 6xx gives his voice to sound perfectly OK.
why?
I have the creative ae-9 soundcard.
I DO notice that the percussion sounds much better with the 660s. But that terrible sound of the vocals throw me off. Maybe an issue with the equalizer?!
Some advice, please. Maybe I should just stick with my 6xx headphones.
thanks...freestone
Can anyone give me a comparison in sound between the Sennheiser 660s, or the 650(K6xx) versus the AKG K7xx? Is there any improvement to warrant a Sennheiser purchase over the K7xx?
Sorry but the pricing is ridiculous...nobody in Germany would pay more than 300,00 for this. And there are better alternatives...and this clamping force...no way...plastic Tech
I purchased the 660s a few years back. To my ears there simply wasn’t enough difference between them and the 58X to justify their $400 price at the time. I admit to being a 60+ year old 650/6XX fanboy. The 660s extended bass may be a bit more refined than the 58X. Overall I don’t think my aging ears could distinguish between the two in a blind listening test. Everyone’s hearing and sources differ. At today’s price I can and do recommend trying the 660’s. They are very good, easily driven cans. On the other hand if you love your paid for 650’s then relax and enjoy.
1-T-O-MFrankly, 58X is simply a lesser version of 660S
58X is more likely an introduction into 600 series; 660S is a step up without additional gear.
Both are more mobile devices friendly.
58X sounds much better with MTK platform with headphones jack (same volume level as PC38X and audio is much better than Snapdragon platform)
However, if you managed to get 32bit/384kHz USB-C headphones adapter (it's universal), audio is way better.
Be careful don't mix up with 660S2 because it's like 650 (300 ohms) and it's NOT recommended for mobile devices without amplifier
Can someone tell me?
Which of these HD 6XX and HD 660S models would be the right choice for Techno, House or Trance mixing?
Which model to choose for working with more detailed data?
EdTheNerdSame thing with the 560s and with the mangird tea II drop they tried a week or two ago, was either at or above the price they can be had elsewhere without waiting...
Initially, I thought these looked interesting but specs & descriptions give little real information. Where are the performance graphs that tell us the tonal response and which frequencies have the worst distortion? Sorry but if a company can't be bothered publishing normal data for high end gear, I can't be bothered even considering their products.
Valensilius_ZephyrusOne can waste their life researching products so no, the information needs to be provided straight up or I'm no interested in dealing with that company. If the company isn't interested in doing that, they loose a sale.
