I picked this up after reading it was a very effective DAP for its price, and I’m inclined to agree. The userface

isn’t always straightforward, and its inability to read ISO metadata correctly is frustrating (hopefully this gets a update at somepoint, as it plays them well), but it sounds great. All the headphones I tried this with were improved over my phone, the biggest improvement coming with the 6XXs and the Q1 set to high gain, which easily trounced my phone.
I will certainly consider upgrading to a higher end DAP down the line, but for under a hundred dollars this is a highly recommended buy.
I like the sound. The eq works well and has a good range. Just starting to use it daily snd its controls snd menus are easy enough for my purposes. And it's cute.
This looks like a simple player, but the operating menus and procedures just to play music are extremely confusing and complicated. It took several attempts to figure out how to make a playlist and I still don't know how to name or delete them. It is also difficult to go from inserting a card to playing the music on it, requiring several steps. Also it stutters as it transitions from song to song. (Is that the gapless playback?)
I have two Fiio (M7 & X3) players that are both simpler to operate but do not sound as good.
If you have a lot more experience with modern music players than I do then this Shanling would probably make you happy.
