I think there are some misconceptions being posted on this thread.
First off, thickness does NOT equal better quality leather. Leather is shaved down to a certain thickness depending on what it's going to be used for (and there are also natural variations in the thickness). A thin piece of Cordovan comes from the same number of "square inches" of the animal as a thick piece. For this particular application, thinner probably works just as well or better than a thick piece which may not fold properly, or just may not be necessary.
I don't remember what price these sold at ($20-something dollars?), but the idea that you'd get a Horween shell cordovan key case, hand-made by artisans in Chicago, AND in addition to that, that it should also arrive in a "nice presentation box"... that's asking a little much, don't you think? You need to be a little bit realistic about what it costs to make things.

Received my keycover from Ashland today - irritated that the quality has GONE DOWN! I have 2 previous key covers and comparing them - the leather on this one is thinner and the finish is quite bad. Shipped in a plastic baggie rather than the nice presentation box for a nice gift. Thanks for SCREWING your customers ASHLAND!

Thanks for your response Ian. I agree with Mehere, The cover is very thin and the finish is rough, I'm basing my criticism of a prior cordovan purchase from Ashland, this cordovan, versus the one I purchased last year (wallet) directly from Ashland, are not even comparable. However, with that being said, if that's the way these covers are made, that's fine, I was just expecting the same quality in this cover that I got in my wallet. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it seems as if these covers were made from "scrap" cordovan. This is just constructive feedback as I am grateful for the discounted price!
MehereHi Mehere! I'm sorry that I didn't see this comment sooner and even more sorry that the key case isn't working out for you! I take a lot of pride in what we do so I do not take your comments lightly. I would be thrilled to exchange your key case for a new one. Just contact me at ashlandleather@gmail.com and I will take care of you personally (as I do for every email). -Phil Kalas

Any chance of an option for those of us with more than 3 keys?
Wesley_SniperMore than 3 keys? get two of them!
The idea of the Lexington Hotel Key Case is that it holds your essentials in a slim profile without bulking up your pants pockets. I like to use mine along with a card holder when I go out to bars/restaurants/etc in the city or any time I don't need my car keys.

This would be a much more practical product, and an instabuy for me, if it had an attachment point for a lanyard/key fob. I can't fathom why it doesn't.

Thanks Ian, I will definitely purchase from mass drop again, no need to contact customer support, thick leather or thin leather, all I was saying is that, it is not the same "quality" as the cordovan wallet I purchased a year ago...As far as the "presentation box," I think mehere was referring to the box that your piece comes in when you order from Ashland....While I understand what Chicago Comb is saying, I would disagree with the notion that just because something is on sale you shouldn't get what you normally would if you paid full price (unless it was noted), that is the point of buying from mass drop....If you bought something on sale at a retailer, I would imagine, you would expect the packaging and box, regardless of the price (unless otherwise noted), again, I understand the message, however, I also understand that people buy from mass drop because they want to receive the same item at a discounted price and for some people, that includes the packaging. Again, I appreciate the opportunity to purchase this item at a discounted price.

NoleNo where was this disclosed that they went to thinner grade leather or it was being shipped in a plastic baggie. The last 4 drops from ASHLAND were much nice quality. Chicago Comb NEEDS TO GET ALL THE FACTS before he makes comments on an issue.
MehereHi Mehere! I replied to an earlier comment and am following up here. I can understand your concerns with your key case and I want to make sure that you are taken care of. Send me an email at ashlandleather@gmail.com and I will help you asap!

bnaoki@bnaoki I replaced the entire screw post with a key ring at one point and it worked nicely for me.

I would not mind having this drop again. [img:IMG20150418025206.qdq.jpg] Here is all that remains of my poor key cover. My friends dog found the thing on a chair in their backyard and proceeded to devour the leather. Thankfully her dog didn't swallow my keys with it.
