The Great Dalmuti is a game of shifting status. Each status is built with certain advantages or disadvantages. Climb your way to the top as fast as you can and take on the title of The Great Dalmuti, in this classic trick-taking card game from Wizards of the Coast.
Gameplay
The deck is made up of 80 cards with cards ranked from 12 to 1. The number on the card acts not only as that card’s rank, but tells players how many of those cards are in the deck (i.e. there are 12 cards with 12 on them, 11 cards with 11, and so on and so forth). The lower the number, the better the card’s rank is. Jesters act as wild cards and can be played with any other card.
Trick-taking
Players attempt to get rid of their hand as quickly as possible. You can play as many cards of the same rank together as possible, but you can’t play a card of a higher number value than what was just played. The goal is to try and get rid of your cards as fast as possible.The first player to do so becomes The Great Dalmuti. Players change seats to represent their new rank. Play the game for many rounds, the Great Dalmuti on the last round is the winner.
