Why are these so expensive? You can get Cherry switches for 50c each, with spring, stem, contacts and housing; why are these 60c each for what is essentially just a slightly modified top housing?
You have to take into account that the tops are doubleshot. The plastic outside needs to be formed first using a brand new mould then placed into a special custom made mould again to inject the thin rubber top. Two step manufacturing processes will always be more labour intensive and result in higher costs.

There's far less R&D involved there, too. Matias switches are incredibly similar to simplified Alps.

Can get 70 of these for $45 from zealencio's website. And probably won't be an entire month to get to you either.

Grey0That's the GB price in addition to that, they charge a 4.5% fee and 15$ for shipping and it will be an entire month to get to you either.
Stop spreading fake news.

The sound is part of the keyboard's feedback, why someone wants to silence it? and on top have to pay for it, LOL.

ideusI use ergo-clears and my colleagues and family love the sound of my boards. They say that the familiar sound is part of the office and home atmosphere that makes them to feel at home.

ideusThis is not a "new need", the need started long ago when people asked for less noise. Brown switches were introduced in 1994 as a softer sounding switch. O-rings were introduced in case someone wanted to silence their keyboard without having to buy a new one with quieter switches. Or maybe they just liked the feel and sound with O-rings better.
Zeal's were created to improve on the O-ring or provide an alternative experience (i.e. Increased travel distance).

Is it just me, or am I missing the point of 'Silencing' an already quiet switch (Brown, Clear)? It is my understanding that these do not work on 'clicky' switches (Blue, Green)?

Not 100% silence but well enough to bring down the clack noise. Other factors come into play affecting the acoustics like the keycaps and how hard you're smashing your keys etc

For anyone considering buying these there are three major points to consider 1 - GMK QMX clips GMK QMX clips are an unashamed rip off of this design, however, they are far cheaper ($40 for 110) and although I have not used zealencio silencing clips they are a near identical clone and therefore I expect the feel is incredibly similar, additionally many reviews which have used both mention a barely perceptible difference between the two. 2 - Feel This is based on my experience with GMK QMX clips but as mentioned they are incredibly similar: I have used the QMX clips on two* keyboards * actually the same keyboard - the corsair K70 (an aluminium plate mounted keyboard) but I used them on it before and after changing the switches from cherry mx brown to zealios 65g I have used both these and O-rings and I want to say from the outset that these clips are MASSIVELY superior, however they do still have a noticeable impact on they key feel. The key feel is slightly softer with the clips but due to the thin, high density rubber material used this does not ruin the key feel like o-rings do. The key travel is also slightly reduced - about 0.7mm. which does impact the key feel, but, surprisingly is not as server as may be expected. 3 - noise Once again the noise retained by these is far and away better than that of O-rings, however the strong clack that many people enjoy on mechanical keyboards is significantly reduced - more so than the rest of the switch noise. As both cherry mx brown as zealios 65g are tactile switches I cannot comment on the effect on linear and clicky switches but the switch noise is more noticeable with the clips equipped, this is not a major issue but I thought that I should make people aware of it as the lubricated switches - such as those in the video shown, have a far less noticeable switch noise than non - lubed switches. Extra - backlighting For anyone worried about back lighting these feature a hole in the frame to allow back lighting light through without any interference, additionally the light reflecting back onto the casing can produce a pleasant back glow effect, particularly on keyboards with black back plates which usually lack this back glow

I'ts a pretty involved process you have to remove the top of the keyboard by un-doing all the screws some of which are concealed (you can find images online) then you need to desolder the keys I highly reccommed cliping your stabilisers particularly on the spacebar as well as switching the keys. I also lubed the switches on my keyboard.

With the release of the <$30 Plate Mountable QMX clips these Zealencios are officially very overpriced. I have both and while they do feel slightly different. It is not worth the price difference whatsoever. Definitely do not recommend these at this price point. However, the QMX clip drop just ended so if you missed out then I suppose this is your only option at the time.

It's good if you are in Europe but shipping costs to the US kill any savings. If I were to order direct from GMK it would probably be more expensive than the Zealencios in this drop.

Thank you for explaining, I'm new to mass drop also. Good to know they are more useful with linear switches, I was aiming for gateron brown but will be going with gateron red instead. My Z-88 is made to swap switches, it should not be a problem.

Would you look at that. I'm already in on Zeal's current GB for these (and too much more), so I'm surprised to see them here, too.

I honestly doubt it. I have a Novatouch myself and the hole does not seem big enough. Furthermore, despite some cheap knock-offs, the stem is rather unique and limited, as it is only used on topre boards which (in my personal opinion) gain way more in the form of silencing from Hypershere rings.

FigueiredoYea sadly you're probably right, looking at it further I guess they probably don't - JTK is making some colourful novatouch sliders that are apparently high quality, might be fun to see how that goes.
I guess I'll have to go into hypersphere rings, still ordering a bunch of these for other mx boards though.

Got these yesterday and installed them with o-rings on my Pok3r with mx browns and I really can't tell the difference. Maybe the slightest bit, but I wouldn't bother doing it again. Maybe with louder switches these might do more but let's just say, people across the room will still know I'm on a mechy board. btw, I tried them without o-rings and they were louder than the keys with just o-rings.
[EDIT] See Zeal's post below, could be my keycaps causing the ruckus.
If you pair oring+Zealencio clips with OEM caps, you'll definitely get the silenced bottom out and upstroke.
With Cherry profile keycaps, no orings are needed. The clips will silence both bottom out and upstroke. Just make sure the switch is logo facing top, LED hole down!
