Product Description
Adaptable to a wide range of uses, the 3 Legged Thing Equinox Albert tripod system is compact enough to fit in your carry-on, light enough for long hikes, and heavy-duty enough for virtually any camera and lens configuration. It’s crafted from the company’s Pure Stealth carbon fiber, with a modular three-section center column that offers an incredible working range—extending from almost floor level to over 74 total inches Read More
ngSMSimilar, sure, but having handled the Vyv and quite a few Mefoto tripods, I'd take 3LT any day. The Vyv is quite an old model by now, and this is even better, apparently.
I'm a bit skeptical towards the design, especially the center column. Common wisdom is that center of mass should be as close to the intersection of the legs to reduce torsional oscillation - this center column, even collapsed, is way too tall (but it is removable). This is also reflected in the minimum height - even my Gitzo 5-series monster goes lower. It's not exactly light either, 1.9 kg compared to my old Gitzo Mountaineer G1128 which weighs in at 1070 grams without center column, about 1200 g with center column. Also, five sections means a lot of flex points.
There are very few reviews out there - I'd wait until there are more.

I second draw4.4ward's question above. I would like to get more than one optional add-on (clawz and the QR plate) but the way the drop down is currently set up prevents this. So, Massdrop, when are you going to fix this?
I have their Vyv model from the Peak Design Messenger Combo drop and it's a great tripod. I assume this is even better.
The man behind the company is very passionate about making well built tripods. The price might seem high until you look into other similar models. Carbon fiber is expensive.
ZorikJust watched a video where guy is in pretty decent wind very noticeable and the things looks solid.. he iOS even saying its windy out and the tripod isn't moving,.
henrymyfI have the 3LT Brian and it's awesome for a travel/outdoors tripod. Goes to insane heights, super easy to get to all angles, compresses down tiny, quite light. Handles a lot of weight. Stable in the wind. The ball head is smooth and the panning feature is nice also.
One of the legs is detachable as a monopod also which I think is handy too. Can double as a walking stick.

UPS dropped off my tripod today. Folds up a lot more compact that I thought it would - easily carried externally on a backpack. Looking forward to putting it to some real world use. In the mean time, good job, Massdrop!!
