I own the W900 from AAW and the presentation is stunning.
I even prefer them over my SE846 but I'm keeping the SE846 because the differences are appealing and both are excellent IEM's. The W900 are universal and the fit is spot-on for my diminutive ears.
I'm considering a purchase of one of the offerings in this drop.
KC-130Which pair are you looking at? The pair of w300 in the photos for this drop:(https://www.massdrop.com/buy/aaw-w300ar)were mine and at the time I was running them balanced with an AK240 and using them over my UE RR for daily drivers.
nicpopeI'll likely take the ASH model. AAW is targeting them at bass-heads and, while I'm not a bass-head, I'm so impressed with the W900 that I want to experience what bass-done-right sounds like in an iem.
If I don't like them I'll just give someone a good deal on them.
The planar-magnetic Nightingale are not something I plan to take a flyer on until I read some reviews.
If I didn't already own a pair of AAW, I'd definitely pick up the A3H also. You can't go wrong with a $200 iem from a reputable company.
KC-130As a follow-up on my purchase, I did buy the ASH during the advertised Drop.
I still own the W900 but I decided to sell the SE846 due to how well the ASH perform.
A notable observation worth sharing is the ASH are not the bass-head iem that's stated in their marketing.
The bass is excellent, firm and rich, but in no way overdone. The SE846 is more bass-present than the ASH but that's actually the reason I sold the SE846 and kept the ASH.
The ASH are in the sweet-spot of impedance and I've experienced absolutely no hiss whatsoever. I've played them through an AK380-SS, Hiby R6-Pro, Mojo, Hugo 2, Vega, LG V30, and a multitude of desktop amps... with no aberrant sounds at all.
They match particularly well with the Mjolnir 2 and Liquid Platinum amps.
The ASH are slightly larger than the W900 and fit every bit as well as their brethren.
I've now owned the ASH for 7 months and have no inclination to sell them.
For reference, I find the Chord products are by far my preference of the many DACs I've owned and the Auralic Vega sits in sole 2nd place.
