Are these just left overs??? How come there are never any in a larger size. I get excited each time I see this drop only to be disappointed.

In the overview it says there is a 5 mm drop and in the details it says zero drop. Which is it?

antseverywhereGreat question! The removable insole or sock liner is 5mm thick of cushioning. All Altra are ZeroDrop!

I hiked ~ 600 miles of the AT last year with the Lone Peak 3.5's. After taking a hundred miles or so to get used to the zero drop, I liked them but they weren't cushioned enough and I switched to another brand for the rest of my thru hike. Then last fall I saw YouTuber Darwin describe how he switched from the Lone Peak to the Olympus 3.0's and loved them because of the cushioning. I picked up a pair and loved the wider sole with Vibram lugs. The only problem is that the Olympus seemed to be sized larger than the Lone Peak and despite getting the same size shoe it was considerably longer than the Lone Peak. This is a good MassDrop deal and I've picked up a second pair a half size smaller hoping that will lead to a perfect fit.

My other shoes are size 9 including the Lone Peak. I ordered the 8.5 Olympus via MassDrop after having worn the size 9 Olympus.

PritchThe Lone Peak 4's sizing is pretty much considered true to size, at least I'd say so. I wear EU42 (8.5) with most shoes, including the Lone Peak 4.
Question is, is the size any different between the 3.5 and the 4?
I know the toebox is wider on the 4 than the 3.5, so it could be that the sizes changed. The design of both the LP4 and the Olympus 3 are pretty similar, so it might be that they're similarly sized...
I would like to buy a pair of the Olympus, but I would be pretty bummed out if I bought a pair in 8.5 and it turned out to be too big.

Damn, $17 shipping to Norway. That's the highest I've seen on a Drop to this day, for a product like this.

My criteria for purchasing is partly the final cost to me (Massdrop price + shipping + currency exchange + duty + Cdn taxes + post office "handling charge"), and partly if it can be obtained locally. I bought a pair of Timps here back in January for $59.99 USD. Great deal, right? My total cost though after adding the above was $141.81 CAD. If I could have bought it locally, I could have saved about $6.21, but it was not, so I just bit the bullet and ordered it here (and waited 4 weeks for it to arrive...). If the shipping had of been $15.00 USD, instead of $20.25 USD, I would have broke even... 😏

Read reviews on other sites before buying. Hearing these are more narrow than other Altra and there is some sort of bar across the foot bed under the arch area that pushes through on some peoples shoes. I want to buy a pair of altras but then I read the reviews and they seem like they haven't quite found that a-ha moment where they have figured out shoe fit and durability yet. I guess I'll keep waiting. I have the lone peak 4 and they are nice but need better cushioning and my little toes can go numb sometimes. They also use a flexibar across the top of the shoes lace area I had to disconnect because it pressed into my top of my foot and was painful. I can't remove it because it's sewn in but taking it out of the lace system helped. Hope they get it right before someone else does.

DarkWoodsI tried the men's on just now at REI. I would agree they are narrow. I'm a woman who usually wears size 8 women's, and 8.5 women's current Lone Peak. I tried on men's 8 & 8.5 Olympus, and felt the 8 was right length, but too fitted mid shoe (wearing thicker Darn Toughs). I'd get men's 8.5 for cold weather, 8s for summer, and again I'm a women's 8 normally lol.

Why are the women's not offered in a size 12? Altra makes these in a 12. I'm wearing a pair right now and was prepared to buy two more. What is up?
