Been using this watch for a few months now, and really starting to miss the Fitbit I had to replace before it. Hardware-wise the Bip is fine, but software-wise it's extremely lacking compared to Fitbit. If you just want to track steps and sleep the Bip is adequate, but if you want to track any exercising outside of walking/running/cycling, you're out of luck. I got the $3-ish dollar third party app that attempts to fix this and take fuller advantage of the Bip's potential, but unfortunately it just doesn't work that well and I'm spending 5-10 minutes a day trying to get it to sync all of the data from the Bip. Not a huge pain but frustrating after enjoying Fitbit's ease of use.
I will say if I switch back to Fitbit I'm going to miss the Bip's always-on reflective screen and ridiculous battery life. I'll be charging it today after 35 days, and I still have 8% to go. If only they made the first party app more full featured, this thing would dominate.
How is $65 a good deal? That's the regular price on most Chinese websites that sell internationally (with free shipment), and it's available new on ebay for even less.
Update (Nov 10, 2018): I just ordered this for $50 shipped from gearbest.com (as part of a "Lucky Bag with Bip Lite" deal).
I have had a Bip since the end of March. It was the new Pebble we never had. There's some weird translation things, there's only one watch face that is 12hr, and there's no quick reply options for texts. My only real wish is that it was more water proof, but ip67 will do. Standard watch band, and about a month long battery life is very impressive. And of course that screen. It's very close to perfect
Couple things: There are two apps I use in addition to the MiFit app. One is "AmazFit Bip & Cor Watch Faces". This offers many other watch faces (hundreds), many of which are 12hr, or analog. I highly suggest it.
Second, I use Amazfit Tools app. This app does have the ability to add functionality through the one button on the watch. For example, I control music in 3 ways: Double click the watch button in quick succession and it will play/pause the music. Or triple click the button and then doing a 'thumbs up' motion or 'thumbs down' motion will adjust the volume up or down, respectively.
Also, i have not experienced any problems with its waterproof-ness. I have swam in my watch in a pool and be in the water at the beach with no issues.
SeEnCreaTive@SeEnCreaTive the official rating is IP68 but is has actually withstood tougher water ingress tests, we can't change the official rating now but you should be safe with most water sports like surfing, kayaking, rafting, hopping in a pool etc.
noviceindisguiseI don't think it has music control by default, I have the watch and I got an app for 4$ that is great and adds more features to the watch. With it you can bind multiple button presses to perform functions such as music control. My setup currently is that if I press the main button twice it pauses the music. If I press it three times and make a thumbs up or thumbs down gesture it goes to the next track. If I press the button 4 times and make a thumbs up or down gesture it raises and lowers the volume. Sounds a bit weird, but it works quite well. It is a great little watch - the battery lasts forever and I love getting notifications to my wrist. The app for music control is called Amazfit tools.
I own one as my primary smartwatch. Its pretty great if you only want the basics. All i care for is Time/Date, Notifications (app, txt, call), and Silent alarms.
It has weather, stop watch/timers, compass, alipay, fitness tracking, and heartrate monitor
Its pretty good. I usually get 50 days but I dont use fitness tracking or the HR monitor. Don't care or need them. When just using the stuff I mentioned i get over 50 days pretty easily. I am currently at 9% battery, and have been for 3 days. My app says I last charged it 54d ago. And its still going strong. I usually charge at 5% so that should last me 60 days.
If you need more than what it offers, you wont be happy, but since i care for only the basics, its fantastic.
Also wanted to mention there are tools and apps that help you get third party watchfaces on the watch. It comes with 10 standard shitty ones, but you can find some good ones online. I use Mi Bandage and AlertBridge (i find the default handling of notification mirroring kinda sucks. Alertbridge works better) with my watch. Mi Bandage has facilities to help set custom watch faces. And you can get tons of watchfaces here: https://amazfitwatchfaces.com/bip/
I just got the watch and even though I order Onyx Black they sent me White Cloud color watch. It is the opposite of subtle low profile black color watch I wanted. Did you all got the color you ordered?
jain.akash123Update: Massdrop team did finally responded to me and offered $15 credit back due to wrong color. Or I had option to return it for full refund. I took the $15 credit and gave it to my sibling as a gift. I bought the Black watch on amazon, I have been using it everyday. Been great watch.
OutDoorPastor@OutDoorPastor you can see the map and your GPS route once you sync your activity with your phone, I assume you could then use it to backtrack the route you see on the map by using the watch's compass
These constantly show up at 59 on Newegg flash and Amazon, at this price is not really a deal.
As far as quality goes, the only issue you hear from SOME users is the Bluetooth range is sucky, other than that it has AMAZING battery life and offers almost every feature you'd want
I use the original amazfit, absolutely love it for being around the same price point. Constant updates/upgraded features.
Watch faces can be customized, GPS without being connected to your phone so you can sync it after a run, sleep tracker etc. For the price and features, I have a hard time paying for an Apple watch.
Only thing I've changed is the band, which is universal with the quick release.
