Since 1888, Atlantic has been producing timepieces that give Swiss watchmaking its storied reputation. This drop features four different models of the company’s iconic Worldmaster line Read More
I love Unitas 6497 and 6498 hand-winding movements, but the 52951.41.61R model in this deal looks ridiculous, in my opinion. The open heart window along with the small seconds just don't look right together. Would have been much nicer looking without the open heart. Regardless of all that, this particular model, with the Unitas movement, is hard to find and not cheap.
ghostiDepends on the mechanical and what you like. Mechanical watches are preferred by most watch enthusiasts, but are almost always more expensive and less accurate than even inexpensive quartz movements. However, for me, having something with 100 - 200 moving parts on my wrist is more satisfying as an enthusiast. That said, as I type, I am wearing a quartz today! lol
I have the Worldmaster "Big Original" 1888 - nearly identical to the GMT on offer here but without the GMT function. ETA 2824 that I've kept hand wound daily when not worn and has been running well within COSC.
The photos here and even the stock photos on Atlantic's own site don't come close to capturing the nice details. The hands and applied markers and logo are well polished and capture light brilliantly.
Can't speak for the leather as I got mine on the steel bracelet, but I'd easily put my Atlantic up against any Hamilton or Tissot for under $1000 and wouldn't have any regrets on my purchase. I've a larger wrist so the 42mm size fits me well, even though it wears a bit smaller thanks to being decently thin with a good curve to the lugs.
Very, very pretty watches. Would be close to perfection is each of the different options were 2mm smaller. I'll sure end-up buying an Atlantic watch one day, am very curious as to how they wear and feel on the wrist. Other watches come before that on my roadmap, though!
Nice looking watch - +100 for the white small seconds seems a bit steep. I understand on the GMT. @$499 I will pass on this, mostly because I have been spending too much lately!
