Because what do you think they will improve, a few tweak here and there change the sound signature. In fact, they have a new flagship AD 5000x which consider as neutrality embodiment tune for nuetrality all rounder. But the AD 2000X is different where is nutrality is tune towards bright for female vocals and acoustic music as well as music instrument such as piano and guitar as such. Its dynamic is one of the best. Its perceived as narrow sound stage like a small studio or music room with actual music instrument being play.

zep483r70x is bae. One of the hardest things to do for me was to sell it, and it's one of the few I regret selling.

I would love to get the ATH-A1000Z instead though. 2000Z still a very good headphone just a bit pricey.

I wouldn't say "most" people will need to do anything, but like all products one's mileage may vary. I have a larger than average head (hat size 8) and all the various AT cans I've owned over the years seal fine. The 3D Wing thing is different and makes a lot of assumptions about how peoples' heads are shaped, but it is damn comfortable.

I meant A2000's. I also tried the W2000 and W5000x's, and liked the W1000's better.

My first "high-end" phones were the A-T W1000x's. Then I tried the z's, and I liked them better. I had them both rewired to balanced with excellent results, but the z's again sounded better. Same interior components, but it could have been the wood (?). At CanJam LA a few years ago I heard the A1000x's and was duly impressed. The z's should be even better. Should you be interested in balanced modification, try John Giust at Surf Cables, and no-one else. Balanced headphones is the only way to go. It expands everything audio--side-to-side, front-to-back, wider Hz's, velvet sound.
