I own the Japanese-market version (ATH-A500Z), these are really good for the price. They do sound a bit dark and bassy compared to my ATH-AD700X and ATH-A1000Z.
Hey Massdrop, it would be helpful if you'd show these on a human head so we could gauge their size. It's hard to understand how big they are without some frame of reference that head-shaped.
ExaiDecided to go along with these, the differences does not seem to be big enough to pay almost twice as much for the higher model. I'm a bit concerned with treble of these headphones though, I have AD900x and love them a lot, I enjoy bright ATH sound signature.
ExaiI only own the A500Z (aka 550Z) and A1000Z but I heard that the A990Z is more "fun", the A550Z is more neutral. Though I would suggest the A1000Z over the two if you can afford it.
