With a slim, agile profile; a long, sharp bill; and smooth G-10 scales, it’s fairly obvious where the Bestech Swordfish gets its name. What’s more, it measures nearly 9 inches long Read More

That silver tongued devil, Kavik has convinced me in the most certain terms that I need this. And it's cheaper here by $10.00 or so from other places that I buy knives. Oh, well. It's Ramen and the dollar menu. At least, I'll be able to cut up the mystery meat with my new knife.
Sholy Hit! This is the first under $100 knife that I have given a 5 to since I decided that there weren't any that deserved that rating when compared to a hier tier. Thankx, again. This is an astounding knife. Much better than the Paladin, which is a very good one.
14themoneyGlad to hear you were happy with it!
Yeah, the build quality on mine was top notch, only thing I really knocked it down for was the weak detent (strong enough for good action, but too weak to keep the blade from shaking open)
Mine just came in, verrrrry nice
Lemme be super critical first :
-This thing came soooooo oiled. Like dripping from the pivot, squeezing out between the scales and the liners....yet didn't run exactly smooth out of the box, felt gummy (i'll come back to that)
-free spinning pivot. If you're gonna make a D shaped pivot, WHY put it in a round hole? ESPECIALLY when you have a custom pivot that shows painfully obviously when it shifts?

-ceramic bearings....in flexible plastic cages?
The only other ceramic bearings I have to compare to are from the Bestech Goblin...these are different.

The brass ones from the Goblin roll smooth between my fingers. The plastic ones... Eh, less so.
From a couple dozen flips before disassembly, you can see a little groove worn in both the blade and the scales, though nothing really deep enough to feel

Now onto the praise :
-the grinding on the blade is flawless, right down to the edge. The bevel is even on both sides from heel to toe. Out of the box sharpness is one of the best I've had. Doesn't treetop hairs, but it does catch on them above skin level. Paper is no match for it.
-the two piece g10 scales aren't 100% flush at the joints, but boy they're damn close
-edges are eased in all the right places (especially the edge of the lock bar, which is very nice). ONLY thing I think they needed to chamfer that they didn't is the lanyard holes, those feel sharp enough to wear paracord over time.
-last, but not least, the action : this is the smoothest knife I own. After disassembly, cleaning, and re-lubing (Hoppe's No. 9), despite my concerns about the plastic cages for the bearings, it flips open every time, no misfires, and falls shut!
If I could change anything about the action, I wish the detent was just a hair stronger. It's smooth as hell, but not as fast as some others I have here. Not the end of the world waiting another five hundredths of a second lol
But, I can shake it open if I try hard enough, which can be a legal issue....of course, it's also a 4" blade, which makes carrying it an issue as well lol
I think that covers everything LOL
TL;DR - after a standard tear down and reassembly, 100% happy with the look and feel of this knife. Would've paid retail if i saw it in a store.
In the context of it's price this is a fantastic knife.
What I like:
Build quality is solid, fit and finish is good, and deployment is above average. It is also, frankly, an attractive knife.
What I dislike:
Tip is too thin and pointy. It is going to break off at some point, it is unavoidable.
While attractive, it doesn't handle particularly well, mostly because it is so long and thin. Honestly, I'm not EDCing this so this isn't a big deal for me.
Takeaway, don't get this as a first or a primary pocket knife. Things like the spyderco Delica outclass this in every way for that purpose. As something for the collection though, this is a must own.
fhoodThe tip snapping off is not "unavoidable." It's actually very easy to avoid... Don't pry on it. All knives have their purpose, and if you don't misuse a knife, it'll be just fine... I promise. You do a lot of prying, don't use this knife for it. Simple.
Does anyone know where I can get a new pocket clip and screws for this knife? I caught the clip on my steering wheel cover getting out of my Jeep. I was able to take it off and bend it back, but partially stripped one of the screws. I got it back on, but did the same thing again today. Thanks!
You bet. I'm glad to hear it! They really are, a great team over there. Though a bit understaffed. Which does keep costs, and prices down.
They'll be at Shot Show 2019 too. Though I'm not sure if they'll have a booth or not? They were there last year. Luvthemknives YouTube Channel, is planning on interviewing them again this year.
@fhood Lol well, I can attest to the severity of the pointy end now haha
Was playing around with it tonight and was stropping the edge clean on my jeans. Don't know what I did... got sloppy, was only half paying attention, whatever it was.... Managed to slip the tip through a stiff new pair of Levi's and put a little over a quarter inch of the blade at a low angle into my thigh with barely any pressure.
But it didn't snap yet lol
Oh well, it's not really your knife till it bites you, right? Hahaha
OmniseedLol sad to say, but I've done way worse with other knives.
Don't recall even feeling it go in. If it weren't for the fact that I jerked the knife up, instead of back out the same angle... 😒
*clears throat *
Thanks to Bestech's Swordfish's impeccable grinds, even bevels, thin profile, and delicate tip, even self-inflicted stab wounds are an absolute pleasure! Don't delay, buy yours today!
Barely comes back and already no orange/ black or green / black. That's messed up 2 drops in a row and I can't buy the one I want. You're definitely slipping Mass Drop 😡😡😡
