Product Description
With a slim, agile profile; a long, sharp bill; and smooth G-10 scales, it’s fairly obvious where the Bestech Swordfish gets its name. What’s more, it measures nearly 9 inches long Read More

I've only had one Bestech experience before, and it was a 4 out of 5. This is a complete 5. Excellent fit & finish, smooth and crisp action, comfortable feel, razor sharp out of the package, and it looks just as sharp as the blade. Definitely happy with this purchase!

Great knife. Love it for edc. Wish I could give it 7 stars to offset the illiterate morons taking off a star because it's "too big for edc". Lol, bull shit. The exact size is literally right there in the description?! Anyhow, my first Bestech. I'm definitely a fan going forward!

This knife deserved a better review. After spending more time with it and sharpening it every chance I get. The blade is actually easy to manipulate and will become sharper over time and honing. Its a delight to have in your hand and flip open and closed. The long blade serves as a unique addition to any folder collection.

I took the liberty of dyeing the orange scales red. The result is a beautiful red woodesqe ascetic. I am very pleased with the outcome and this knife is a great house knife if not just a joy to handle.

D2 is alright. If you hit something harder like glass or stone you might chip or round the knife edge. Returning the edge to nominal state is actually pretty quick and easy with a Fallkniven DC4 + steel hone. Its a great food knife as you can touch up the edge before every use. Honestly, people are likely blinded by the price when it comes to quality of blade. But don't let the price fool you! The swordfish is constructed and designed phenomenally while still managing to be something of a show knife.

Use it once for a monumental task and it will work. But consider it used until you hit the sharpening stone again. Fit and finish are great. Materials are wanting.. Even the G10 seems a little under spec for proper G10 mixture ratios. It does take a color dye, albeit not easily like Spydercos natural G10 mix. Roughly 1 hour @ 180F + vngr + slt.

PS: This knife is wanting Bestech! It wants a high performance CPM steel and Titanium or Micarta scales for a premium version. Can you make it happen!?> Best seller of the year im tellin ya, and who cares what you charge! If you build it they will come.

Spike_SPGLThe knife looks great after dying it, I am considering doing the same thing. Quick question, will that dye eventually wear off and show up on the inside of my pockets?

MrSaucemanYeah I really agree. I just ordered the paladin in Mass drop Green and im gonna hit it with a black dye for a green black two tone look. Hopefully the G10 weave is the same and shows the dye the same as the Swordfish. After carrying the knife and using it since this post I have not noticed any dye transfer or color distortion. Adding Distilled vinegar to the dye solution when dying allows for the dye to chemically bond to the G10 instead of just sitting on top of it. You shouldn't see any transfer or wear for as long as you own the knife. Something to keep in mind is make sure to use RIT LIQUID DYE. Results are all based on that one fact. Post pics when finished, cant wait to see your creation!

Massdrop is full of enablers. I just got it today and as with my Paladin, I am very happy with the purchase. It wasn't as sharp out of box as my Paladin was, but nothing a little rod and strop therapy won't resolve. The handle feels great and everything is on par with my almost $200 Benchmade Adamas. Only critique is the same that I had for the Paladin and my MDxFF Gent, and that is I wish the blade was coated or available in a blackwash type finish. Other than that, it is actually a perfect size for EDC for me.

Amazing
Came extremely sharp... and is still extremely sharp after consistent use! I would highly recommend this to anyone that needs a reliable folder. The blade shape is great, the actual grip is very comfortable. I take this hiking, camping, and backpacking wherever I go.

Very nice knife overall. It's huge for a pocket knife but has a role in the collection. Smooth action, flips open effortlessly. Blade is centered. Great looking knife with the skeletonized Flipper. Razor sharp out of the box. My first D2 blade so I'm interested to see how it holds up. After buying expensive knifes with exotic materials you really appreciate a quality made knife for $40 that'll get carried more often then the other more expensive ones.

Copying over from my review in the comments section, before reviews were a thing here. TL;DR version at the bottom
Lemme be super critical first : -This thing came soooooo oiled. Like dripping from the pivot, squeezing out between the scales and the liners....yet didn't run exactly smooth out of the box, felt gummy (i'll come back to that)
-free spinning pivot. If you're gonna make a D shaped pivot, WHY put it in a round hole? ESPECIALLY when you have a custom pivot that shows painfully obviously when it shifts?

-ceramic bearings....in flexible plastic cages?
The only other ceramic bearings I have to compare to are from the Bestech Goblin...these are different.
search

The brass ones from the Goblin roll smooth between my fingers. The plastic ones... Eh, less so.
From a couple dozen flips before disassembly, you can see a little groove worn in both the blade and the scales, though nothing really deep enough to feel
search

Now onto the praise : -the grinding on the blade is flawless, right down to the edge. The bevel is even on both sides from heel to toe. Out of the box sharpness is one of the best I've had. Doesn't treetop hairs, but it does catch on them above skin level. Paper is no match for it.
-blade is perfectly centered
-the two piece g10 scales aren't 100% flush at the joints, but boy they're damn close -edges are eased in all the right places (especially the edge of the lock bar, which is very nice). ONLY thing I think they needed to chamfer that they didn't is the lanyard holes, those feel sharp enough to wear paracord over time.
-last, but not least, the action : this is the smoothest knife I own. After disassembly, cleaning, and re-lubing (Hoppe's No. 9), despite my concerns about the plastic cages for the bearings, it flips open every time, no misfires, and falls shut! If I could change anything about the action, I wish the detent was just a hair stronger. It's smooth as hell, but not as fast as some others I have here. Not the end of the world waiting another five hundredths of a second lol But, I can shake it open if I try hard enough, which can be a legal issue....of course, it's also a 4" blade, which makes carrying it an issue as well lol I think that covers everything LOL
TL;DR - after a standard tear down and reassembly, 100% happy with the look and feel of this knife. Would've paid retail if i saw it in a store. Knocked off the one star for the weak detent and the ability to easily shake the knife open

For my first knife, this is nice.
When i took this blade from the box i checked for imperfections n there were none. It opened smooth, damn that was cool. It has gd balance, it does feel heavy though. So i would definitely recommend this knife, for whatever that's worth😉😃. Hey folks the price is right n the nxt time this knife comes along..buy it.

attractive well made knife. I find that I reach for the Swordfish more then my more expensive We g10s. smooth deployment, centered, sharp, easy to carry and reasonably priced. can't ask for more in an edc user.
