RickbBecause 80ohm don’t need amplification and sound better than 250ohm version without it (in my opinion). Because they are two different sound-stages (many prefer 80ohm sound over 250ohm with amplification).
Don’t fall for the belief more ohms must = better headphones. Take a pair of D2000’s for example...then have a look @ their impedance.
Rowdy2026High ohm take advantage of a good amp's damping factor, but if you are not running your 80 ohms with a High End dac amp combo (most $150 budget buyer won't), its a moot point. Most phone's internal amp do not have good enough DF to noticeably benefit a high imp cans. If you have a decent DAC/AMP setup with high DF and wattage, go with the 250 ohm. For most portable setup, (I use my SONY MD player on the road). 80 ohms makes more sense.
Rowdy2026Your assessment on why people choose 250 ohms version over 80 ohms. Sometime higher ohms with a decent amp setup = better headphone than its lower ohms counterpart. you said quote: "Don’t fall for the belief more ohms must = better headphone" with certain scenarios, and pair with an amp with great S/N ratio and DF rating, they will make magic.
AmensmasherWtf?!…tell me what’s wrong with my comment you’ve quoted and then explain how that and anything else I commented conflicts with what ever trolling argument you’re trying to make?
Rowdy2026Not trolling, you asked a question, I simply gave you an answer. If my statement does not sit well with you, I am OK with that. Nothing is wrong with your comment btw, I did not make any correction saying what you said was incorrect. I am just putting in my thoughts on why people pick the higher Impedance models. Chill. I am not arguing, but you definitely sound defensive.
