Why don't you put captions on your photos?????? What is the thing that looks like a narrow one-slice toaster and is plugged into a phone? What is the round orange-thing on a USB cable?? WHat is the big yellow thing with the grill work at the top?
matt98030"The yellow plastic thing " is the battery module. It houses the fan, battery and electrical components.
"The big silver cylinder" is the burn chamber where your fire will be.
"All sales final"...so no warranty? I couldn’t find one so I‘m asking. I guess the fan would be my only real concern since it moves the heat to the charging components. Adding in the extra items and I cannot see a better deal ever anywhere else. You’re getting multiple battery chargers, lights, equipment to cook with, I have wanted one of these for the longest time. I’ll probably join the drop w/o a warranty and hope for the best. I may even get a solar panel (in time) for added charging. I can’t believe this deal!
Dear Massdrop Community,
I can see that there may be some confusion as to whether or not this a is great value -- which is completely understandable! Allow me to shed some light on this topic. The bundle offered in this drop is exclusive to Massdrop, so you will not find this assortment of products anywhere else -- including our site. Also Massdrop is basically offering 30% or more off the cumulative MSRP on these items - this may be one of the best offers you'll receive on our products at any given time. I really hope that this helps to ease your concerns about this deal -- as it would be a shame for you to miss out on these awesome savings.
Thanks,
BioLiter
I joined in on this drop purely to have a great earthquake emergency system. Can heat up water with timber and wood, can easily recharge my cell-phone, have back-up lighting. We keep a small store of freeze dried food around, this way don't have to worry about running out of butane for the jet-boil. In my mind if you are trying to have a nice kit for hurricane regions or earthquake kits this is a serious option
ibex-docHi Ibex-doc,
Thank you for your support and feedback! I'd have to say that I agreed with you 100%. Our products have become a viable option for for many preppers -- from everyday families who'd just like to be prepared for an emergency situation to the extreme survivalists. This exclusive bundle has everything you'll need to stay powered up, feed and energized (with some coffee) during the next earthquake, hurricane or local power outage. Not to mention, it's great for off-the-grid adventures where you'd like to have your phone on -- for an emergency or to snap an awesome pic -- while only relying on wood/twigs as fuel which you can easily find on the ground all around you.
Thanks,
BioLiter

My buddy used one of these on our last camping trip, it was certainly better than my little Ohuhu stove. That said, this is only suitable for car camping due to its size and weight, and at that point you're much Much MUCH better off with a two-burner Coleman for a quarter of the price. Neat little gadget, but extremely limited in actual use.
Hi micahk - thank you for your feedback and support! The points you have made are certainly valid. Although our CampStove 2 does weigh 2.06 lbs, when you consider the added weight of carrying fuel canisters you may end up with about the same weight overall in some cases. Additionally, when you consider the added cost of buying fuel canisters for your Coleman stoves, you may end spending more money in the long run. We like to think of our CampStove as a one-time purchase since you can use fuel from the ground to keep your fire going. With the added benefit of generating reusable electricity for charging when you need it. (you never know)
Hope this helps!

BurnwoodtheBioLitewayThanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, I completely agree that this stove is superior in a number of circumstances, and I'm basing that off of real world experience. Compared to my Ohuhu it was night and day, and I would choose this product over it every time.
However, it was February when my friends and I camped with our bio stoves, temperatures were hovering around freezing and all available tinder was damp. Trying to get our little stoves to light, burn, and sustain was not easy. I eventually fell back on my pocket rocket, while another friend broke out his Coleman.
But all in all, in the right conditions I think you have a really nice piece of gear! And I much prefer wood stoves to gas stoves when possible.
Can someone here explain the utility of these BioLite stoves over smaller wood stoves? What to I get for the extra $130 over the cost of a Solo Stove lite? It looks a bit large/heavy for lightweight backpacking. Are people using these for car camping?
Total weight appears to be ~4.77 lbs for all the items shown, seems heavy for the price.
BenjaminThis isn’t the ultra lite community, you are looking at an outdoor/emergency type product which comes with some nice lights and with battery packs built in (stove and light). Heavy, naw just a little heavier than some would prefer but for the price, I could not get AMAZON to be it.
BenjaminI use both, it depends what you want them for. A Solo-type stove with no fan (you can buy knock-offs on eBay for about $15) is light, super-compact, foolproof and unbreakable, but takes a bit of time to boil water while eating lots of twigs. If you're patient and need something light, it's great. The Biolite is a lot heavier and eats twigs faster, but boils a litre of water in about 6 to 8 minutes thanks to the forced-air fan (which goes like a blowtorch) and you can charge your GPS, emergency beacon, etc. I use a simple metal twig-burner for hiking, the Biolite when i'm kayaking and can carry more gear/weight plus need to charge gear on longer wilderness trips. Hope that helps.
I've had the original campstove for a little over 2 years now and I've been really impressed with both it and the little grill attachment. Didn't buy it for the phone charging aspect, but I love that I've only had to manually recharge it once over ~40 uses. Biolite seems put a lot of effort into the design of their products
