Mirror Polish Was Perfect
Honestly this was the only Kwaiken iteration I held onto just because of how unique it was, no one else did anything with wood and this finish.

Don't like that you can touch the edge of the blade through the back when it's closed. Finishing on the wood handles is just ok as well, but the mirror finish on the blade is very eye-catching.

Beautiful knife, don’t stab yourself!
This is a really beautifully made knife, with high quality materials and craftmanship throughout. The blade geometry is delicate but functional, and the steel holds an edge well. I’ve sharpened it once in 2 years of ownership but also haven’t subjected it to much abuse. Careful of the pointy end - could do some real damage if you don’t pay attention to where it’s pointing. The mirror polish is outstanding, and makes cleaning the blade a) very easy and b) very worth it. When I got mine, I found the wood scales just a little rough, which didn’t quite fit with the elegant style of the knife. Because this is a liner lock, they were easy to remove (didn’t require full disassembly). I gave them a sanding down to 320 grit, then I think a bit of olive oil (which actually didn’t darken the wood very much). Now this sits beside my Grohman among my collection’s top examples of exceptional fit and finish. I suppose my only real criticism is that the opening mechanism is a bit tricky to master. The flipper (more of a pusher) is not very prominent (in keeping with the knife’s clean lines), and therefore requires a certain approach to get enough moment on the blade. Once you figure it out, all is well, and the motion is quite satisfying. I also slightly loosened the pivot screw, making things a bit more fluid. The standard Boker+ Kwaiken is already a pretty knife, but this takes things to a different level. The bubinga wood really compliments the clean linear design of the knife, and it looks just as good closed as it does open. There’s also a nice two-tone (three, if you count the mirror blade) contrast with the matte grey liner material.

Love the wood scales and the mirror polished blade! Came nice and sharp with perfect action and centering. The flipper is something you need to get use to if you've never handled a kwaiken model before. But that's not to say it isn't a good flipper design, it's just different. I liked this knife so much that I picked up the brass/micarta version when it came out. A knife so nice I bought it twice!!

Despite the shipping delays, I love it so much!
I received this knife quite a while ago, and it's remained one of the smoothest knives I've ever flipped open. It's extremely satisfying, has a beautiful finish, and the design is something that really appeals to me.

My first pocket knife, still just as sharp as the day I got it. It's a great pocket knife and beautifully crafted.

Got my knife today (4/21/18). I just wanted to share some of my thoughts with the community because of all the bad knives that people were getting in the earlier drops. The reason I pulled the trigger on this was because it was definitely one of the coolest versions of the kwaiken ive ever seen and it was 99 bucks which is cheaper than any other kwaiken on BladeHQ.... So I pulled the trigger. How are they now? I've listed below the pros and cons of MY particular knife. https://massdrop-s3.imgix.net/img_comment/2cBFCyGATDG26OS7c1cF_IMG_8551.JPG Boker Kwaiken Wooden Mirror #1203 CONS: My knife was clearly opened before I got it. The silver safely seal was broken. I was a little bummed by this because on a brand new knife you wouldn't expect something like this. I suspect that Massdrop were conducting their own quality control because of all the bad knives that were going out earlier. I know it wasn't USPS because the massdrop padded envelope packaging was unmolested when i received it: https://massdrop-s3.imgix.net/img_comment/yPN0lnN5TPmxNoPucM5s_IMG_8554.JPG Second, the blade grind clearly favors the left side. Its not bad enough that I would send it back to MD, but its definitely there. https://massdrop-s3.imgix.net/img_comment/fiKmZPUrTYKVkDvYQlyL_IMG_8553.JPG Third is that the blade shouldnt be advertised as a mirror finish. Its more like a hazy carnival fun-mirror if you catch my drift. If you put it right up against stuff like I did in my image and how they do it in the stock image, it will appear to be a mirror finish.... but anything over 3 inches away forget about it. I would say its more of a highly polished finish and not a mirror finish: https://massdrop-s3.imgix.net/img_comment/ZBNRbG3VQMayrqJhnrJe_IMG_8558.JPG Now for the GOOD: Knife is gorgeous. Scales are beautiful. However like people said before they do come unfinished so I recommend putting something like balistol or some other wood finish on it so your knife doesn't absorb any foreign liquids and stain. https://massdrop-s3.imgix.net/img_comment/GwFJbF0JR26qKyuk3Fbg_IMG_8552.JPG Second, fit and finish are very nice. Blade is perfectly centered and the overall build is certainly of high quality. The blade could have come a bit sharper (can sort of shave but not really.) This isn't an issue for me because I enjoy putting my own edge on it anyways. https://massdrop-s3.imgix.net/img_comment/lyzkGWPOSJWBLbscdcgt_IMG_8555.JPG Overall: Good knife and if it drops again I recommend picking one up. For 99 bucks you cant beat it when you compare it to the standard kwaiken offerings.
