MarcSpenceAnother proud owner of the CV1 :)
However, when you compare the DAC and the AMP, the DAC is certainly letting the AMP down; Not saying that the DAC is not good, but the AMP is just better than the DAC.
kcetjon:) I have the burr brown 1793 in my CV1.. considered getting the sabre but too much of a pain to swap back and forth..lol.. CV1 pairs well with my alpha dogs and audeze lcd2. Cant see needing more power to justify CV2+.... probably should get something from zach at ZMF before i spend 2k on another dac....
i have the lafigaro 339 as my tube amp that I like with my 650’s and he4xx. I use the bb dac in burson with the 339... really not sure best reasonable sabre dac to try with 339...thinking sabre dac may be best for 339 since the 339 may benefit from “brighter” dac....
kcetjonHello. I have CV2 just the amp without dac. I've been thinking to get dac boards for it. Which dac do you have installed the burr browns 1793 or Sabre X32? Which would you recommend for it, outside of these two?
MozhaaakI would get the bb or sabre direct from burson, if i remember they offered me a sabre dac for around 250 shipped to states and were willing to throw in a clear top. The bb dac would prob be a little cheaper. I cant think of any better dacs under 1k
kcetjonOops! Sorry, i have cv1. Yeah, they only offer the sabre. So, that makes it easy choice. Also, cv2 dac uses the newer xmos usb board, which is prob why u cant use the cv1 dac boards. Not sure what they charge for the xmos sabre, but i would think under 500 shipped to us
kcetjonI see burson is selling xmos/sabre dacs on their website for sub 500 bucks i think.
they emailed me with a sale..it was tempting... email them and ask if they have any “deals” on dacs.
