Product Description
Cayin’s lightest digital audio player to date, the N3 has gotten a ton of hype since its unveiling at Canjam 2017—and now it’s making its US debut exclusively on Massdrop. It features the AKM4490 DAC chipset, an audiophile favorite, with support for all common music formats up to 32 bit/384 kHz and native DSD decoding up to 11.2 MHz (DSD256) Read More
Having issues with this N3 turning on over the last month. It will finally go on after pressing the power button for a while. Is this an issue anyone else is having?
Can someone tell me how to switch the menus to English? It shows English on the Massdrop page so I am assuming this is possible. I can't find anything in the instructions or online.
Got mine for a few days now. I really like the sound of this paired with my Noble X. Has anyone been able to get playlists working? I think their UI is clunky and I'm not able to load .m3u8 or .m3u playlists onto the device.
Received mine today. I'm pretty happy considering the cost. Sound quality is fantastic with my AKG K750 headphones, although I need to crank the volume to 72 in a quiet room to have it loud enough. I could do without the cheap pleather back, but the included silicone case makes up for that. Seriously, if they're gonna do pleather, at least make sure the edges are glued down flat, otherwise it just feels cheap. Love the blue color. Buttons are good and tactile. I like the haptic feedback for the capacitive buttons. The stereo separation is fantastic, among the best I've heard from any player. I'm currently listening to a wide variety of music (24/192, 24/96, 16/44, even some mp3s) and loving every second of it. Couldn't get it to work as a DAC on my Windows 10 PC... not sure what I'm doing wrong there. But I didn't buy it for that feature, so whatever. Looking forward to trying it with bluetooth headphones.
I'm a happy camper!
I appreciate massdrop, but this one is a flop. There was nothing exclusive or beneficial about this drop at all. 4-5 days before this drop shipped the N3 was on Amazon US at the the exact same price. Not only that but without tax and with free 3 day shipping. with massdrop I ended up paying $9 more, shipped 4 days later, and via the the absolute cheapest possible method with a delivery date 9 days from shipment to get from PA to CA. I'm not sure what happened here, but I can't say I'm happy I joined this drop.
You pay taxes based on where the product sale occurs. Nothing changes this month for me in CA. It does not affect what I said, the entire point and draw of this drop was that it was the US "Exclusive" release of the product. As it turns out it was available prior to the drop shipment at the exact same price, and with a normal and modern shipping rate. The whole point of mass drop is that there is a benefit to group buy purchasing. There was no benefit to this one, but we were lead to believe there would be - lead to believe we were getting this before anyone else, and that the MSRP was higher than what we were paying.

That's as of April 1st (2 days ago), and it wasn't an April Fool's joke.
The exclusivity of the product was mostly held back due to the slow shipping methods used by Massdrop. Technically we did "buy" it first, but Massdrop takes an eternity to ship stuff.
As for the MSRP, are you really whining because of that $0.01 that it turns out you didn't save?
