I had one. After two weeks of usage, unit stopped working, nothing helped, screen was black. Had to return it to seller in UK. Overall player is not bad, when it's working. Top bar on screen is overcrowded and within 4 graphic themes only one for me is good to daily use. As for sound - iBasso DX80 with Fiio E12A or Aune B1 sounds a lot better.

I just noticed on the Cayin website that the N5 has a 'Bal' (Balanced) output for "Balanced Driven 2.5mm Headphone". Does anyone know if those are available in an earphone/earbud? I can't seem to find any anywhere. Is the 'balanced' configuration only available on headphones? Who makes those? Or is the 'Bal' output for future headphone/earphones that just don't exist yet?
Thanks again for joining this drop! We have submitted the group's order with the vendor and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.

Does anyone know if the N5 is 'quick charge' compatible/certified? That 3-hour charge time seems excessive.

Does the Cayin play SACD ISO (even DST) files as seamlessly as my JRiver/ Exasound DAC combo? My two android phones (with app) quite obviously don't have enough CPU horsepower to unzip and decode...

Anyone compare this to a Pono?

gdhourBoth have balanced outputs available. The Pono has detail, great soundstage, great separation and layering and textures. The bass textures are great. It has a great dac and drives my HE 400i's and HD 580's fine.. By the way Trance posted this in the Pono thread in Head fi post #4215 describing the difference in the electronics: Ayre did all the analog audio parts including Dac>IV>LPF>Amp and Pono also uses Ayres Minimum Phase Filter, so Ayre are essentially responsible for Pono's sound. I love looking at the Pono's pcb, as far as I know it is the only dap with discrete stage of MELF's +Transistor's + High Capacitance Film Chip's, for dac lpf stage and voltage gain stage, the amp is discrete Class A (switches to AB for higher loads) with a discrete diamond buffer, 2,000uF of capacitance in power supply for the amp. It's a thing of beauty. In all honesty it is a bargain to get Ayre's engineering at Pono's price point, makes other dap's look grossly overpriced for what you get imo. Why you guys are even comparing the Cayin N5 with the Fiio X5 the N5 looks better, Better sounds, better components. And it has a ballanced output for balanced headphones. It's rare to get ballanced output on a cheap device like this and that actually sounds great.

How would this compare to the Sony Walkman NWZA17SLV? That's what I'm currently rocking, but am looking for something that can even sound better.
I have B&W P7 phones.
