Colorfly C10 Portable DAP

Offering higher audio resolution than its predecessor, the C4, and an updated look that’s more sleek than steampunk, the Colorfly C10 is an impressive little music player for the price. It has a JZ4760 processor running a Linux operating system, and the same Cirrus CS4398 DAC chip and Jitter Kill circuit as the C4. Plus, the C10 bumps the res up to 32 bit/192 kHz (from the C4’s 24 bit/192 kHz) and supports native DSD128 decoding—for a rich, dynamic sound that stays true to the original recording.

The C10 doesn’t look too shabby, either, made from CNC-machined aluminum and red sandalwood that’s been hand-engraved with the Colorfly logo and shield. The curve in the wood offers a comfortable grip, and the controls sit flush with the front panel to avoid snagging in your pocket. Navigate the menu and select tracks using the retro-style click wheel, adjust the volume with the company’s signature sliding potentiometer, and settle down for a nice, long listening session—the battery is good for up to 8 hours of playback.
