Made in the United States by Datamancer, this hardwood case for the Infinity Ergodox offers an earthy alternative to harsh lines and the cold, industrial feel of machined metal. Constructed from a solid piece of either red oak or black walnut, each keyboard case showcases the wood’s original grain Read More
Anyone know someone in Alexandria, VA to Washington DC that does keyboard clubs? Reason I am asking is I am wondering about who would be willingly to build the ERGODOX keyboard for me. I have all the kits but no time to do the soldering myself at this moment. I am willingly to pay for someone to do the job for me. (Reasonable price of course)..
I'm afraid I won't be ordering anything else from Datamancer. This thing is flimsy. I had to manually reinforce all of the connections, the screws are really cheap, and the fit is so incredibly tight that some of the keys actually rubbed against the case. The rubber feet are laughably cheap and thin with bad adhesive (again, had to replace myself) and the design is such that all the pressure from typing pushes the flimsy inner container away from the flimsy outer container, and is only held together by flimsy bolts and receivers that I had to re-glue myself. If you put the <cheap> rubber feet on the inner casing, this solves the pressure problem, but then it looks dumb and it's wobbly.
For the price, you'd think they could do a better job with quality. I'm super disappointed. I'll post pics when it breaks. I type like an ape, so I really need something more substantial. The plastic case that came with the ED Infinity is actually pretty bomb proof. Just kinda ugly.
UPD: received my replacement from Datamancer. No issues so far. Thanks a lot!
I have bad experience with Purple Heart / Full Hand. Left part cracked when I started assembly (move it upside down with unscrewed bottom). No issues with right part. Can you help me?

Also you can see crack next to LED window and it was glued (not by me):

@Datamancer Is there any options to solve this issue? Left part looked OK when it arrived but later when I started assembly and unscrewed bottom this issue appear.
Purple Heart.
Approximately what is a good commonly available stain / mix of stains to achieve this color? I am interested in applying it to some bamboo items so that they may match.
Bought this on the last drop. The wood itself is great, but the details are pretty low quality. The rubber feet are just shitty stickers that fall off if you move the keyboard slightly, the screw holes are cheaply glued in place and fall out pretty easily (I've had to super glue half of them back in place), and the back-plate that screws on doesn't fit cleanly, making it uneven after you attach it.
Once you have it in the case and it's sitting on your desk, this really isn't a huge deal. But when I'm paying $125 for a laser cut piece of wood, I expect a little better.
EDIT: To anyone reading this. I reached out to Datamancer support with my complaints, and they sent me a brand new case free of charge! This one was of significantly higher build quality, and I am FAR more satisfied with my purchase. Great customer service, and I'll be much more likely to buy from them in the future.
