But I really didn't get a single thing that was something I would buy. Actually got a pink set (I hate pink) and a brown set (I prefer black to brown). Also got two nice mouse pads that aren't something I would buy. It was fun to inbox and see what I got, but I don't believe I would buy a mystery box again. Once is enough.
I received the Camillo MT3 set, a grey skylight set, Infinity War Desk Mat and Drop Holy Panda X switches.
Yeah they are “decent” stuff but this could be improved. Maybe a desk mat that’s not already on steep sale, or actually good switches in an amount that’s useful. Or at the very least an actually FULL keycap set.
Also if these sets are already put together then why does it take forever for them to ship.
I got the
Drop + MiTo MT3 Cyber keycaps
Green Skylight keycaps
Iron Man Marvel desk pad
And 70 Drop Holy Panda X switches
I can definitely use the switches in a future build and the green keycaps are a nice color too. I would have preferred the black panther desk pad, but I have been using the Iron Man one for a couple of months and have grown to like it.
Around the time of getting these most were on sale I totaled the sales prices and it came to only a little over $100. So not a super great value but nice to get something new. I think ignoring the sale price, it comes to a good value.
I will buy again if they do a fourth round.
As someone that is new to the hobby I was very happy with my box. I received some DCX keycaps that I would not likely have purchased on my own and I LOVE them. The mouse pad was alright and the second set of keycaps is cool too. Haven't tried the switches just yet but will be trying them soon.
I would probably never have bought a Black Panther Desk Mat, nor would I have gotten the Noctua MT3 keycaps. But now I'm happy to use both and have them in my rotation of stuff.
Granted I was already a big fan of MT3, but it's interesting to have stuff that I normally wouldn't buy in my collection.
I don't use the Holy Panda X switches, or the white skylight caps i got, but I know I could use those for someone else or I might come around to liking the Holy Pandas.
It seems like it is worth it for $99 and if you have the spare cash. It was fun.
It is a mystery box. Don't love that the shine through caps were an addition as they feel like a waste but the rest of the stuff you can get is pretty nice all things considered.
As with all mystery boxes, always go in without any expectations. My box contained the following:
DCX BOW - $99
Drop Slate Skylight - $45
Drop + Mito GMK Pixel Desk Mat (Purple) - $29
Drop Holy Panda X (x70) - $70
Total MSRP value: $243
Granted the holy panda's occasionally go on sale but I don't recall the other things do. I wasn't very impressed with the keycap sets but still really liked them anyway dbecause I never tried the DCX profile and it was a nice way to try out something new. The Skylight series look rather boring (got the slate version) but they sound phenomenal and have relatively decent shine through. I have no intention in using a purple desk mat but was very happy I didn't get a Marvel one. If you go into mystery boxes without any expectations, you may be pleasantly surprised. I'll probably give this another go when the next on drops
