From a design perspective, our goal was to make this a premium board and we believe we've hit the mark with this offering. Calling a luxury sedan overpriced relative to a budget compact because "they both have 4 wheels, 5 seats, doors and a steering wheel" is clearly overly reductive. The same applies to the SENSE, where we've worked extremely hard to give it a premium fit and finish from many angles. Understandably, it's hard for people to appreciate that without having held one in your hand or using it. Engineering a gasket mount keyboard correctly, to feel like a true gasket mount, is very difficult. That's why so many keyboards are "gasket in name only". This is something that is very difficult to correct/solve/mod after purchase. We took a ton of time to measure, adjust and finalize our gasket mount system and we're extremely happy with the results:

Similarly, aluminum cases aren't all made equally. The material you're using, the minute details of each edge, the finishing quality all add to the machine time and ultimately the cost. But to us, these improvements are worthwhile addition. Here's a macro image of the SENSE75 relative to two other keyboards:

We are aware that the sound profile of a keyboard matters, but it's also one of the most subjective elements of the hobby. It's heavily contingent on your setup (switches, stabs, plate material, lubrication, keycaps, desk mat), and it's one that is the easiest to modify after-market for those who value it. Lastly, it often matters the least since many users (especially from Drop.com) are wearing headphones listening to music or gaming while using their keyboards. What we've done here is balance the sound profile effects with other factors instead of sacrificing other features just to chase a better sound (for example, the thinner foam is to provide more room within the case for the gasket mount to compress. Another example would be that HPX switches "feel better" but "sound worse" than OG HP switches.). The SENSE75 isn't a perfect keyboard, but no keyboard is. The enthusiast level of the hobby is about modifications, and customizing a keyboard to be perfect for you. We believe this platform gives you the room to achieve that, versus hindering advancement with dead-end design limitations. Simultaneously, the SENSE75 gives less-enthusiast users a fantastic off-the-shelf experience with premium components. The best part is you don't have to trust a word that we're saying, just give it a try and if you don't like it, send it back to us for a full refund. Happy typing!

KevinYou can believe something very strongly and still be wrong about it. It wouldn't be the first time for you or for Drop.

Kevin"From a design perspective, our goal was to make this a premium board and we believe we've hit the mark with this offering." In the Netherlands, we have a very nice saying for this: The butcher who grades his own meat. "The same applies to the SENSE, where we've worked extremely hard to give it a premium fit and finish from many angles. Understandably, it's hard for people to appreciate that..." Let me level here with you, people generally don't give a hoot's arse how much work you've put in it. "Engineering a gasket mount keyboard correctly, to feel like a true gasket mount, is very difficult." Indeed very difficult, you forgot the daughter board... "Similarly, aluminum cases aren't all made equally. The material you're using, the minute details of each edge, the finishing quality all add to the machine time and ultimately the cost." And in the specs you say 'Case material: 6000 series aircraft-grade aluminum, chamfered edges', you're just using 6061, else you wouldn't hide it behind such wording. You'll likely say: "No, we don't want to burden our customers with more information than necessary." What's the darn difference with saying '6000 series'?? They will still have to Google what the hell you mean if they're not familiar with aluminium alloys. "Lastly, it often matters the least since many users (especially from Drop.com) are wearing headphones listening to music or gaming while using their keyboards."

KevinIt is very obvious that valid criticisms are being intentionally pushed down chronologically by Drop. Its honestly kind of disgusting that this is even a feature you guys developed for your site. Many posts made on August 30-31 show up below those made July 28th despite having comments sorted by "newest first", and they all happen to be critical ones, how strange! These are not just "lol bad board pee pee poo poo", many of these are on topic constructive discussion about the value of this board as compared to those it directly competes with. You know, the GMMK Pro and Keychron Q1, or "Brand X and Y" as you call them. I see this happen on other drop product discussions, and it would be nice to see Drop commit to dropping this practice and instead address criticisms vs try to burry them, because doing that is a response in itself, and not a very good looking one.

KevinLastly, it often matters the least since many users (especially from Drop.com) are wearing headphones listening to music or gaming while using their keyboards. You did not make this comment on a keyboard priced $349... I don't believe it I have Sundaras paired with a Magni/Modi. They are open back headphones. I am not blasting music 24/7. I can still hear my keyboard with my headphones on. Especially while playing games like valorant. Please hire a keyboard enthusiast, your current ones are money hungry or have no idea what they're prioritising

EdTheNerdThanks for flagging. Not aware that something like this would have happened. Our algo or spambot might do something odd (wouldn't be the first time). Will look into it. We have no issue to receive criticism. In fact, our site is very open any type of discussion, sometimes a bit too much so. We encourage constructive and productive feedback as that helps us to design better products. We changed DCX name based on the Community feedback. We are adjusting SENSE75 product specs based on the feedback as well.

Jyri_DropThanks Jyri. I have no reason to not take you at your word that you don't know about this happening or it being a moderation function, but I do have to disagree with the suspicion that its some automatic system. I do look forward to hearing what comes from looking into it. The most obvious sign this isn't some automatic filter, is that as I did in the discussion here, as well as in other product pages (and I've seen others do this too), I can copy the contents of my pushed down comment verbatim, repost it, and its apparently no longer "automatically filtered". Interesting! When reading comments I always glance at the dates on them as I've been watching this happen for a while now, and from what I've seen this is happening exclusively to critical comments, both short one liners and thought-out multi-paragraph posts. But you'd expect it to hit some positive ones as well if it was some automated process getting false positives. Also it would be awfully silly for a spam filter to just push down comments chronologically vs delete what is apparently spam which is maybe why: I've never seen this happen to actual spam. I've only ever seen human made comments pushed back chronologically from their actual posting date despite sorting comments by "newest first" I've observed this not just on the Sense75, but headphones like the drop+focal collaboration, as well as others. One comment of mine was pushed into the abyss over a week after it was made, which would be quite odd for a spam filter. To the outside observer, there doesn't appear to be much more explanation for this other that it being a human operated process to let drop push down things from easy view without making comments obviously disappear from our profiles if we check them.

EdTheNerdThanks for the further details. Will check the Focal too. There are number of things which could cause all this but I'll connect with the team and see what could be the root cause, and what can be done to improve. Want to also thank you for being passionate about our discussion areas and for paying attention. We need people like you grow this community and to continue to improve the industry. Thank you!

Jyri_DropWe have no issue to receive criticism. In fact, our site is very open any type of discussion, sometimes a bit too much so. We encourage constructive and productive feedback as that helps us to design better products. We changed DCX name based on the Community feedback. We are adjusting SENSE75 product specs based on the feedback as well. That's disingenuous at best. You're doing it for PR reasons rather than product reasons. Making changes now is damage control because you finally realize your justifications for the specs and price are weak. Drop hasn't been about making a quality product for the sake of it for a loooong time. Drop also doesn't even take internal feedback seriously - historically, at least, but I have no reason to believe that's changed. One problem (make no mistake: you have many) is that the people running the show at Drop are horrendously out of touch. The MT2/DCX controversy should not have even happened. At best, folks in charge genuinely didn't know the meaning behind the MT3 name, which is a failure on their part to understand the product they're selling. At worst, it was intentional and someone who raised a flag about it was overridden. You guys repeatedly set yourselves up to shoot yourselves in the foot and then act surprised when it happens. The firefighting is constant.

eksuenBased on your comments it sounds like you've been employed by Drop before. I am sorry to hear you had a negative experience. Mine has been quite much more positive so far. In regards to the SENSE75, it's pretty clearly mentioned here. To put it shortly, we optimized more towards gasket performance. Community provided input - we go back and adjust the specs based on this feedback. In the background, we are also talking with Keybored and others, and receiving their feedback too. Ultimately, the goal is to deliver a better product.

Jyri_DropYou're also a VP if I'm not mistaken. Your view is likely to be highly skewed. I said people at the top are out of touch. That might just include you. Drop had two years of development time to solicit feedback and you wait until post-launch to solicit and implement feedback. As it stands, the SENSE is still an unknown quantity for which you are actively taking pre-orders. You guys took your shot, missed, and are once again holstering your gun with the safety off. Somehow you never learn. It's baffling.

eksuenThis conversation is getting a bit off-topic so I'll stop here. Happy to continue via email if anything you'd like to add. Regarding the keyboard - we always collect feedback from many community members. Whether the feedback or decisions made based on those are accurate that's a separate thing. The most important is that the final product delivered meets our customers' expectations, which is yet to be seen. We'll be working hard to reach that point.
