The first Panda units are ready to ship! Final QC checks are complete and we’ll have Pandas on a plane in the first half of next week.
In addition to shipping these first units in June, we’re pleased to announce all remaining orders are expected to ship on schedule.
We also wanted to tell you about a few improvements we made for the production model based on late-stage community feedback :
Improved Damping Scheme
We improved the damping material and layout to further reduce reflections inside the cup. For most listeners, this manifests as improved detail and a more open soundstage.
Extended Headband
We added two notches of extension on either side of the headband. This will allow most people to wear Panda over a hat.
Additional Headband Padding
We doubled the amount of padding and selected a more porous foam. Production Pandas have more cushion than the review samples.
EQ App
Drop is partnering with a pro-audio DSP company to create an accompanying (but fully optional) smartphone application to use with Panda.
This application has two functions right now. First, serve firmware updates to Panda. Second, offer an equalization function. Panda was designed to sound great without software manipulation, and as a result, it is an ideal platform for software manipulation. The driver type and amplifier structure take an EQ really well, so we’re excited to give you a couple ways to customize the sound.
We’re still working with our partner to see how far we can push the EQ feature but we’re shooting for full parametric EQ and we’ll learn more about how that’s going in a meeting later tonight.
A note on how we’re implementing the equalization: The equalization is managed by Panda’s hardware. You’ll define an EQ profile with the app, then it will upload that profile to your Panda, and it will have that EQ profile applied until you change it with the app again. This is about finding exactly the sound you like, and enjoying it with any digital source.

WillGreat news, thanks for the update! Does "all remaining orders" include the ones that were intended to ship in June outside of that initial 1000 estimate?
Kneedeep59No, the "on schedule" per our last communication, if you haven't' already been contacted and you originally ordered in June, you're in the next round in early July. We cannot give partial cash refunds due to IGG's limitations, so the credit will come in the form of Drop credit, more on that soon. We've been trying to work out a cash solution for the last couple weeks, just doesn't seem possible.
WillMy transaction page says that the headphones are expected to ship today. This comment sounds as if they are shipping in July. If so are we talking first week of July or more down the road?
WillI haven't received any email notice from Drop, but did get a notice from FedEx that I'm getting a package tomorrow ... in transit from Ta Yuan District... is that it?
RichiyaadoYep, that's it. In the commodity section, it's listed as "DROP+ THX PANDA WIRELESS HEADPHONE MDX-33343-2." I don't think you can see this section without an account and I haven't received an email from Drop yet either.
Also, I ordered directly from Drop as part of the SN<1000, Shipping July 2020 group.
WillThe way the shipping process is being explained is kind of confusing. I feel it should simply say, “if you didn’t get an email, even if you preordered early and have a sub 1000 pair, you will not be getting it in the first batch.” It’s still confusing how the arrangement of shipping for the first batch was explained as it was mentioned at some point, “first in, first out.” What does that mean for those who purchased on drop vs Indiegogo? Were the first 1k preorders split between here and Indiegogo or what? It almost doesn’t really matter as the time frame seems to be close enough but it’s deceiving to receive updates that make little to no sense. Rather just hear ‘we are late and not 100% sure what to expect but are doing our best,’ rather than more confusion and deception. Thank you for creating a good product. That’s why I and many others purchased it. This entire process requires patience and I feel we’ve given that for the most part. Don’t patronize us with misleading updates, that’s all.

marckbrunoI completely agree. I am one of those who pre-ordered early on Drop and are in SN <1,000, yet am completely in the dark about the status of my order.
It still says "Order places with vendor" and indicative shipping date of 26 June. No other communication on the status of the order (though I now see they have changed it to shipping in July, while also saying estimated shipping date on 26 June)
If Drop is going to bifurcate the early SN<1,000 orders and ship some later, there should at the very least be some communication about this and the basis for splitting up the initial batch of orders.

marckbrunoIt was open here before it ever launched on Indiegogo, then it closed (48 hours, 72 hours I don't recall) and was exclusively on Indiegogo, then available here again. If it's true first in and first out then the Drop pre-go-live pre-order would chronologically be first and filled prior to all Indiegogo drops. The issue lies in that the Drop pre-order had the best price but not the best shipping date, that was supposed to go to those who paid the premium on Indiegogo so the the whole "first in first out" could get real weird.

RichiyaadoDid you get any notification from Drop on shipment, I verified my phone number with support well over a week ago and was curious if these are being sent without notification. Did you get anything on the website or via email for tracking?
ElectronicVicesYesterday, I received a text notice from FedEx that the package would be delivered today. The most recent order status email from Drop was sent June 10.
RichiyaadoYeah I signed up for delivery manager today and got a text notification for tomorrow. A little birdy told me there should be more clarity on tracking numbers before too long.
WillBoy am I glad you added the two notches of headband extension and more padding because these would be unwearable for me without that, I definitely won't be wearing with a hat. Very comfy though. Also, kudos on the volume, these things get LOUD!

WillDid you guys ever add the extra padding? Still feels like nothing but air between my head and the bar. Digs in pretty good. You might want to consider a memory foam with a gel layer for coolness and comfort. If you can't fix it then maybe come out with a beyer like headband wrap to add on it for extra padding. Otherwise the headphones are great!

Willcould you hive some information for those of us that preorder on drop before indiegogo(suposetly with sn<1000) and still havent recieved any information on the shipping?
I find it weird that i havent recieved any information about it, not even the backerkit email, still, im based in europe and things may work a bit diferntly, but a notice or something would be nice.
WillI am in the same boat as @painterman. In Europe, got all the emails to confirm everything like we were supposed to and I am still waiting for any notification on shipping.

paintermanI'm from Europe and even though I bought directly via drop in the < 1000 set(meaning I should definitely get it first batch), I haven't heard a word about shipping either.
Pandalover1Since many people reported receiving their units without any status changes on the transaction page nor notification from Drop themselves. I suppose the missing link is truly a missing link, the people shipping are not synced with Drop.
SUPERTOMMOAt least for me (US) they shipped via FedEx Air delivery which is damn near a separate company from FedEx Ground/SmartPost/HomeDelivery and appear to be leaving direct from the OEM. I think they chose speed over building another integration, a choice I'm good with even if it is a bit confusing.
paintermanYep, different flow for European customers, units have to come to america first, can't go straight from TW. Check your emails for an update on this soon. They're on the way, just a slightly longer way.
SUPERTOMMOIt's not our normal shipping flow, but it's direct air to customers on a 1-2 day average turnaround, so generally, the packages are arriving before most systems get notified of updates.
WillThanks Will, I suppose your answer to painterman also applies to me who lives in Thailand. Will this then get forwarded via DHL ecommerce like other items I have ordered.
Tell you honestly, one thing Drop can add that would really benefits international customers is upgrade shipping. 5 Weeks for a package is really looooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg. :-)
(Except for when I ordered the HE4XX but I think that came directly from China)
WillThanks for the response, i spected the slower shipping taking into acount that europe usually get screwd a bit for shippmens from eu, still a confirmation on "you are gona get one on time" would had been nice. Again, thanks for the response :D
WillSo if it is a logistics thing for customers outside of the US, any particular reason why I wouldn't see any package being shipped to me inside the US, seeing that it's direct 1-2 day shipping?

Pandalover1I bough a USB C Female to USB Male Adapter off of Amazon and it's working nicely with the supplied cable (and can store in case ). Charges fine. Unexpectedly, it also played music via USB from iTunes via my 2012 Powerbook.
WillHey will. Just got mine today with no email. Was expecting some new ignition coils for my car and got these on top lol. Pleasant surprise. I was just curious if you have a time table on the eq app. They sound amazing and clarity is phenomenal but wouldn't kind a little more tweaking for my ears 😁
Tampa_GavinPut in a support request would help if you haven't done so already. I did not get the boom so I can't speak to whether or not it was expected with the headphones. I know they made at least 918 thus far as that is my serial. I've taken to calling it the Spyder.
WillI'm still waiting for mine to be shipped (bought 26th Jan, <1000 units run).
Did you guys receive a tracking number when the units are shipped? It is bought strange and disconcerting to keep waiting for my own pair when there are 500 units already shipped.
TechietechSign up for Fedex Delivery manager and check your address, that's the most certain way to check. Fedex is pretty backed up right now, my Panda has been sitting at their facility in Oakland since weds.

WillMine crossed the pacific and went from AK to my local distro faster than they put it on a truck for delivery. We did have a COVID outbreak at our FedEx distro a couple months back.
Willi have received a defective unit. bluetooth no longer works. i probably have used them less than 8 hours total ever since i got them and i am encountering this issue. i got a pair of non wireless pandas. could i get a new pair?
WillHey @Will . . Why no reply’s to the many questions about when the long awaited and promised companion app will launch. When is the “myth” about a an app supposed to happen?
MaxLinkIf you go to the discussions part of the page you will see the much anticipated App is due to launch any day. His last update expected it to be ready to launch by or on the 15th of February. You can download the app now so you are ready for launch date. It’s called SOUNDID (by SonarWorks) and below is a picture of the app icon for IOS.
