Why is the shipping so high? These are available right now from the Edifier site for $50 with free shipping to the US. Even if the drop goes through, that still comes out to $52 including shipping. Doesn't seem like much of a deal.

DoktorTimoWhen the first drop failed last year, I tried everything to get this, and even the Edifier corporate office and Canadian office said "get lost". So I'm grateful to Massdrop for sticking it out, and not so happy with Edifier as a supplier.

My experience with Edifier is, their product produces decent audio quality, but the build is cheap.

We have some good news everyone. Our vendor has informed us that inventory should become available to them tomorrow. They will be working hard to prepare this order for shipment and aim to send it from their location by tomorrow night. We are currently trending for everything to be shipped out of our warehouse by the estimated ship date of 10/9.
Expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 10/13 or sooner if something comes up.

It’s happening! Thanks to each of you, the drop was a success and we have contacted the vendor for the Edifier H850 Headphone and submitted the group’s order. They are now working hard and preparing your orders for shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey, where our team will be standing by ready to break everything down into individual orders and reship them directly to you. We currently expect to have everything out of our warehouse and on its way to you by 10/9.

Just got my pair from Amazon. Edifier doesn't sell any replacement parts for these so you'll have to use a generic 3.5mm-to-3.5mm jack if you want to use a shorter cable since these only come with a 2M long cable that locks. The earpads can be taken out but you can't replace them with say Brainwavz HM5 pads because they're very different. The H850 uses this hard plastic band on the earpads and ridges on the cup to hook and hold the earpads in place.

Couldn't pass up the chance to buy decent cans to take on the road that won't break my heart should they get lost or stolen. My MDR -Z7 and ATH-M50X-BL cans can sit home safe and sound.
