I'm considering an ErgoDox for my next mechanical keyboard largely because of the 'layers' functionality. Can anyone please tell me if enabling a layer works like CapsLock (press+release to activate, press+release again to deactivate) or like Shift (press+hold to enable, release to disable)? Are the layers modal or quasi-modal?
Thanks!

calebmpetersonThe answer is: both. You can set up caps-lock-like modal toggle keys and shift-like active-while-held-down quasi-modal keys, for any layer. It's your choice.

david.goodgerThank you for the response! You may have answered and I misunderstand but can the pushing of a layer be configured for key down and the popping of that layer be configured for key release? Again, thank you!

calebmpetersonYes. It is called toggling a layer. You can find it in the configuration tool (just right click on a button).
