I see the “What are the issues with B stock” question a lot so I thought that I should share what I found when inspecting my new bass. The quick answer is not much. There are only 2 areas that might have classified it as B stock.
First one is a nick on the top side of the headstock (pic 1). It’s noticeable up close and when compared to the bottom routes of the headstock. I’m thinking that this is what classified it as B stock. The only other thing might be with both cutaways of the body (pics 2 and 3). As the cutaway bottoms out and curves back to the front it gets a little choppy, squared and flat. No issue with playability and because of the rough body finish you can’t tell cosmetically from a distance. If this was a sanded and painted body it would be more obvious. It is an LTD and not a $2000 ESP so maybe this is the norm.
When I first played it I noticed a buzz on low B. It was because the bridge pickup height was completely out of whack. I just dropped and leveled both pickups and the problem was solved. It does need a setup as the action does get a little high at the top. Nothing that a truss rod adjustment can’t fix.
Pickups are fine, pots are little stiff but workable and it sounds good plugged in. Note that I’m a guitar player so I might be off with this. For the price it was a great buy. No case but you can find a new one for about 140. An extra 100 plus and you have this bass.
Your results may vary but B stock for me, at this price, was not an issue. Hope this helps.

Thanks again for joining this drop! With your help we were able to make it successful for the community. We've just submitted the group's order with the vendor for the ESP B Stock Basses LB33 and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where we'll break it up into individual orders and ship them directly to you! The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 1/25.
Rest assured that we will provide you all with updated information regarding the status of your order throughout the process. You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 1/18.

Do these B-stock guitars have issues like non-straight necks?

BiffsBizFrom what I understand, a non-straight neck would mean it is unplayable. B-stock means minor cosmetic damage. Source: http://www.ebay.com/gds/What-are-B-Stock-and-Refurbished-Guitars-/10000000008469746/g.html

When do you expect to hear from the distributor and have the product out? This is my first bass, so I'm itching to get my hands on it :D
Also, can any more experienced player confirm that this is a good buy for a beginner? I have little to no music background other than as a listener.

simon2712Shipping to Canada, but $127 USD, and I typically get dinged hard with customs on MassDrop purchases. Cheaper to buy a new one here in Canada right now with the weak dollar.
