I wonder is there any significant improvement in terms of sound quality between FiiO X7 II and M11 Pro ?
BrahialisI have the same wonder, because I have the older X7 and the same amp module I would use in the X7 mkII (unless I got my hands on the THX module) and I’m very happy with the sound quality. The M11 Pro offers a few more hours of battery life (not much), faster start up time, more compact package, and hopefully faster WiFi downloading, but since I’m already happy with the X7’s playback I wouldn’t want a sound quality downgrade.

Had the X7ii for a few years, just recently sold and upgraded to the M15, which is stunning, awesome pairing with Sennheiser HD800s’s and fiio’s FH7’s. saying that getting a sound quality point of view, I was always very impressed the with X7ii but yeah, old android and feels so outdated compared to the M15

I love my X7 II. I only have this and my DX7s with balanced outputs; I initially loved my HE-400i on the DX7s, but once I got the X7 II and the balanced connection to my headphones, I loved the X7 II waaaaaay more. Dekoni pads further enhanced that experience! Just recently plugged in a 400 GB microSD, have one more slot empty :). Would recommend, especially if you have DSD ISOs. Be wary not all DSD formats are properly supported (UAPP to the rescue; only downside is you can't remotely control it like you can with the native player and FiiO Link in BT mode). My only complaint is the volume; mine has stopped registering correctly altogether. Since I use the FiiO app, that's mostly resolved with Link, but when I do use UAPP it's a burden to change the volume. Stock AM3A amp is more than sufficient for me with my Ether CX today. Cheers!

I had a Fiio DAP lose it's audio chain internally (no output to 'phones). I spent almost a year communicating with Fiio about the unit, requesting that they repair or replace; it was under warranty. THEIR idea of a superior customer service experience was...I send the unit to China! So I did. Months later I received MY unit back, unrepaired! I was never satisfied with Fiio's attitude, their CUSTOMER service. Apparently they don't do enough business in USA to provide USA communication and service!?? Fighting for what is right in Chinglish, waiting a week, week and a half for a so-called response... is pretty...frustrating. I won't purchase anything from Fiio again. What else CAN you do with companies which choose NOT to stand behind their product? And...you let others know about it...right? Beware...and ...good luck!

This WAS a decent DAC when it was current. Fiio has more or else abandon the X series in favor of the M series. This device deeply discounted wouldn't be bad buy but at this price you're better off looking to the M11 or M11 Pro. The ancient version of Android that they bastardized on the x7 ii coupled with the slow hardware take it out of contention at this price.

A lot of restaurants have a back room for private parties. Could kill two birds with one stone, have it there and let them provide the food. Only risky part is needing to know the headcount ahead of time. Charge a five or ten buck per head charge to cover any costs...I don't think most people mind paying to cover the cost when they know it's not being sponsored and someone is offering their time to put it together in the first place. I'm glad you said something about them no longer selling headphones because I've been thinking it's been awhile and I was going to go see what that had that I don't really need but really want to move money from my wallet to their cash register but you saved me that disappointment.
GuyInPittsburghWell, they have a lot of vinyl and speakers. It’s also possible they still have some headphone stock that they would let go for super cheap. Might be worth a phone call.

From my research, seems like btr5 smashes these. I’d pass especially for the price/micro-usb. This thing is outdated.

Wow, I really appreciate you doing all the research. I see many on forums/yt comments/Reddit saying they’re better than the m11s in sound quality. I believe 1Z reviews were saying is that it has higher sound quality than any a.m. even though it can’t I’ll put as much power although still are putting a large amount for its size.
League544For people who are using IEMs and easy to drive portable headphones, a BTR5 might be “enough,” and if the M11 doesn’t dampen the background hiss as much as the BTR5 does with sensitive IEMs, then that might be a case where the BTR5 is better. Subjective taste is always a factor as well. Z Reviews covers quite a broad selection of products, but sometimes his structure doesn’t include sound descriptions or “this will be better in some situations or worse in others” scenarios. It’s great that he can listen to so many things and share an opinion, too many people are afraid to share their opinions and “be wrong” so I commend him for that, but unfortunately many people echo his opinion as if it was their own, without hearing things for themselves. I can’t say what “I” think of the BTR5’s sound, but I can point out the implications of the specs, and I can say “Z said this and Currawong said that, the caveat is I haven’t heard it yet.” Specs definitely don’t tell you everything, but they do matter. I’m just letting people know that the X7 Mk II would give a fuller experience with an HD 6XX than the BTR5 can deliver.

First ever post here. I am not deep into the headphone experience although I do own the Sony WH-1000XM3 and I bought the Bose QuietComfort 3 for some trips my wife and I were were taking for comparison's sake. I don't own a DAP and my question for you is why would I want to now? I mean 3 years ago or more, it would make sense but with something like AudioQuest’s DragonFly Black and a decent smartphone, why would I want to? The only thing I can think of that the DAP would allow me to do is download more songs? What other considerations should I be thinking about? Note: I am not an audiophile, I simply like music. I am not looking to hear the innermost details on a particular song, just don't want the music to sound veiled.

M11 Pro.. and it works well with the Drop THX amp... and for Tube you just mount the ORIOLUS BA300S
I’ve heard some people prefer the M11 over the M11 Pro. I don’t know which I would prefer sonically, though on paper the Pro is better. In any case, the M11 Pro, M11, and X7 all have line-out ports (and digital outs, I believe, the X7’s coax out delivers a very clean signal). If I was intending to use an external amp anyway, I would use the line-out and they would perform about the same as a desktop source, but I’d pick the M11 so I’d have a few more hours of battery life on-the-go.
