I actually like the sound and form factor of these, but the build quality is a bit suspicious. The lack of strain relief on the housings isn't great, and the metal y-split is unnecessarily heavy, especially compared to the housings.
I haven't listened to my R2As in a couple years ... so this is my impression of them from memory.
CHEAP and crappy.
These are $15 dollar single driver earbuds dressed up in an aluminum housing with Comply foamies. The cable is super thin and noisy. The block is just some added weight with gratuitous advertisement. The housing was a joke - it actually pinched my cables through. The back was totally unsealed, and you risk pinching the cables more if you seal it. Or ... you can modify it.
Stricty lo-fi dressed up to steal your money.
I ended up ripping out the original cables and soldering on an old pair of Samsung earbud cables to get a remote and a microphone. I wouldn't frankenstein this with a *good* cable....
