Third time's the charm...I had horrible luck with their first model, got a replacement and had same problems with Quality. They supposedly have gotten their act together with the updated version, so I am giving them one last chance.
I'm still planning to send you back the two I have...they are completely useless (one has crappy stitching and the other one has a buckle that won't stay connected), but since you switched to silnylon and changed up the buckle system, I wanted to give you a THIRD try.
RenegadePilgrimContact me through our website and let's get you some replacements. I totally understand and your satisfaction is what we are all about.
Agree to MAF_24 about the shoulder strap. I can't tell if the compression strap is going to be long enough for carrying on shoulder. It would be great if Gobi Gear would include the option for shoulder strap within this drop. :)
Definitely you can use ANY shoulder strap you already have - ours is padded and has swivel clips, but that's about it. I encourage reuse of gear you already own whenever possible, but we do sell the strap on our website in case you find yourself in need :-)
Fully aware Chez. People coming here are looking for a deal. This was a deal and I pointed them to the Kickstarter to find a GobiGear Product, even though it is not exactly the same as the one offered on Massdrop. For those who have reviewed it, at least know there are other products available and on the way.
Did I do wrong?
I wanted to follow up on the transaction I had with this hoboroll. The folks at GobiGear could not have been more urgent in their response to my issue, more gracious in the handling of the replacement or more accommodating in how it was resolved. I have the replacement and am very happy with the Hoboroll and how I will be using it in an upcoming hike, as well as, GobiGear in general. I have a lot of dealings with "cottage vendors" and they can spoil you sometimes with the level of personal service they afford and offer. GobiGear has EARNED a customer and an advocate in me. Thanks again, Chez for being so customer focused and awesome. Wishing you much success in the coming years.
I don't understand the use of this bag. If i go hiking for few days, i'm a UL hiker so i put my clothes in a drybag like S2S and in my backpack, it's waterproof and lighter. If i go sleep to a friend place, in a hotel or in a camping with my car, i take a classic travel bag or a case with wheels. Really i don't understand
bensbensIt is nice for people who don't want to dump the contents of their S2S stuff sack just to find the socks at the bottom. The access from either end helps as well as those dividers. I used mine while hiking in Nepal and collecting botanical specimens as a volunteer. The extra organization was appreciated since I already had so much other crap floating around in my backpack, and I really needed to maximize time. Collecting specimens takes forever to do properly!
I don't get why this opens on both ends. Is it because hobos frequently lose their possessions?

BarryI would think that the access at both ends would allow for better access, as it does not suffer from the issue of a top loader where you have to unpack to get to items at the bottom.
BarryIt's for access, makes it a lot easier to pack bigger items. And it makes it easier to empty out and use all the space effectively since you don't have to go digging around for stuff at the bottom if you can just open it up from the end.
Reporting back after a three week TDY (Temporary Duty) overseas where I used the larger of the segsacs to store my lightweight clothes. (everything except uniforms and outerwear) The bag performed as well or better than I thought it would. Keeping my clothes separate from some of the harder gear in my duffel. The compartments made it easy to have one for undershirts, one for boot socks, one for PT uniforms, one for socks/underwear, and one for a few civilian t-shirts. Kept everything organized and not spread out all over my locker or bunk area. I wouldn't mind some more manly military colors, but would definitely buy again if I hadn't bought three on the initial drop.
Gobi Gear makes a shoulder strap specifically for the Hoboroll for more comfortable carrying, but they are essentially out of stock right now. However, we will consider making this an option in a future drop. Thanks for the comments regarding the shoulder strap @FeebleOldMan, @MAF_24 and @azurepoi
