Product Description
This straightforward and refined field watch from Hamilton covers all the bases. First, the brain behind the watch is a Swiss-made automatic movement, which is visible from the caseback on certain models (a quartz model is also available) Read More

Honestly if this had the more classic black face I’d jump in it in an instant. I also really like the Hamilton brand leather deplorable strap, very sleek. Edit: Deployable, autocorrect isn’t nice to me

Not my cup of tea, but if you like the Green dial version (totally different watch than the others) it's MUCH cheaper here:

Not a big fan of the new 80hr power reserve movements fitted in Hamilton, Tissot and some other Swatch brands. The 2824 from which this movement derived was easily regulated by any watchmaker, indeed any competent amateur. The regulation is now factory set and if it's out you're in trouble. My watchmaker says he can do it but not easily and he said it's no job for an amateur. The 80hr power reserve is a great idea and the slower beat rate (you'll find it's 21600 and not 28800 as in the description) is great for prolonging service intervals but why couldn't the movement have kept the same regulation system as it's predecessor. I got my Khaki Field prior to the movement change but if I wanted a new Hammy I'd go manual wind which retains the 2801 high beat and still easily regulated movement.

tony.hillTell me about it. I regulated all of mine, even a pesky Vostok, and they all keep good time but the easiest to regulate by far were the ETA movements that just had the tiny screw for regulation.

tony.hillThat's scary. Why have we not heard of inaccurate powermatics that people are basically stuck with ? Or do they just cough up the cash and have a third party tinker with them? The tolerances that come with non-cosc certified movements are just shameful.

Alas--big fan as I am of Hamiltons, these are some of their least exciting models. I don't say they aren't good watches, but they are just a tad pedestrian compared to Hamilton's sexier and flashier offerings. I'm especially disappointed (and relieved ;- ) to see the Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date Auto is not available on this drop. I need that one to complete my Interstellar collection.

I say relieved because this is no time to drop a lot of dough ($625 on Jomashop) on a watch I could easily wait a little longer for (certainly post COVID). Still, if the timing is better for you, and your expectations are more reasonable, you couldn't go wrong with the 5933 model--it's definitely the pick of the litter in my book!

RayFthe day of the week ruins it for me. Nothing screams "i need to fill out this plain dial" more than the full day of the week in print.

TigerUK It's just a convention--probably more common earlier on, but I doubt anyone was just trying to fill space on a dial. Hamilton dials tend to employ more symmetry in their designs than a lot of other watches. I think it tends to give them a slightly more nostalgic look, but also sets them apart from the rest of the pack (most Hamiltons are instantly recognizable). As for the full Day display vs the three letter abbreviation--it ain't like they invented it ;- )

If there was a way to publish this drop in a shittier fashion I'm hard pressed to think of how that might have been done. The nonchalance with which all responsibility for posting accurate information has been ignored is downright impressive. It would have made less sense only if the whole description was replaced with an encyclopedia entry for "aardvark"

To my mind (the only one I have, by the way), the black dial on the steel bracelet is the only way to go. Prices for that model seem to be all over the map with MD's price squarely in the middle of the road. Joma'a price is the lowest because they don't actually have the watch (par for the course, and possibly MD's source). Plenty of prices are much WORSE:

Actually, I quite like the silver dial. I do prefer to buy watches on steel bracelets wherever possible, though. A good quality aftermarket leather strap is easier to find than a bracelet.

Currently (7/15/2020 ~ 11AM) the model numbers and photos are not properly associated with each other for some of these - looking at the Hamilton site you'll see... Sent a request to "support" but was informed of a 5-7 day delay time right now for responses, so posting here. I'm interested in this drop for one model but afraid to "pull the trigger" and end up getting the wrong watch.

Glad to see that the issue has been fixed. Sorry we aren't offering the model you are interested in this time around. We will work on seeing if we can offer that model some time in a future drop.
