Odd
So for what it's worth I went and read a load of reviews on this before purchasing and it hit all the right marks. Mine cuts in and out and has the odd crackle. I've tried all the cables so it's not those. And I know these IEMs are good because I have multiple DACs. EDIT- I managed to fix it after fussing around with it and now it's rather nice. I haven't heard about that man bum units so I'm guess it was a freak and I'll let that pass. My friend has one as well and his worked fine from the get go so who knows!

Just what I was looking for.
I have a cobalt but have not had time to do a direct side by side comparison. Then I'll know more about the music quality. When going to the doctors or other trips to town I need my music. I also need the total cost of replacement to be under 300, minus the cost of the phone. I was hoping to be under 200 but that proved to be impossible. I also want to use it with Tidal and with full unfolding etc. So this seemed to be ideal. Small, light and with full decoding. Only drawback is needing a 4.4mm to 2.5mm adapter. You would think a 2.5mm and 3.5mm would be a requirement. Those unwilling to buy an adapter will pass on buying this. No deduction because I knew thing when I ordered it. I'm putting it at four stars for now, until I have a chance to compare with with my high end gear and of course the Cobalt. My first test use was great. I was using my high end ear buds, the Astell & Kern Rosie. I have more expensive earbuds but this always turns out to be the one I love the most. I'll be testing some less costly to keep with my no disaster if lost path. Perhaps my T1. I got the Rosie as a combo deal with a KANN DAP. I have ended up using the Rosie far more than the KANN. The only real selling point is the massive storage, along with the massive size and weight. Great sound and very versatile all in one DAP. In any case, using the Rosie, phone and the HILIDAC gives me outstanding music. I'm hoping that going down in external device cost will keep it close to my idea. I used some adapters from Amazon to get it attached. Unlike some I've had in the past, the current adapters are not the next thing above trash. No more need to twist the wire, "just so" for it to work with some breaking up. The adapters that came with it are all good quality with none of the problems I have experienced in the past. I just wish they had a 2.5mm to 4.4mm adapter in the set. Given the low cost, I cannot blame them for skipping on something that might not be used. My next test will be checking the music quality between master quality using the cobalt and the Beam 2, to see if there is a notable difference. I have tested using quality headphones and full decoding on my desktop system and it is much better with decoding. Even if there is little difference the light weight and the simple connections make this worth it. With testing I hope my high rating will not drop. We will see when I have the time to do the testing right. At this time time I'm on "so far so good" and very happy with my purchase.

Not worth the $150 I paid...
They lowered the price to $125 and gave me $17 not the $25 they should have. Sound, well it’s somewhat louder. No way to manually change any settings. Pass this product by. Save all $125.

wofseFor something like this you need a source and headphones to actually have it make a difference. For iTunes it's just going to be louder, for something like Tidal you can hear more.
