Somewhere between cold brew and complicated made-from-scratch iced coffee recipes, the HyperChiller gives you fresh iced coffee without dilution in just 60 seconds. To use it, put the container in the freezer and let it cool Read More
just a quick important note, this gives you chilled/iced coffee, NOT cold brew coffee. They are actually different tastes and many people lean more towards one than the other. If you're a fan of cold brew coffee there are a couple of other drops for that.
BitvarHaha, I was thinking the same. Based on Starbucks' standard sizes; Tall (12oz) = small, Grande (16oz) = medium, Venti (20oz) = large, you'd have to fill it twice to get a “big” coffee.
So I‘m an owner of the V1 and use it all the time. its super easy to use and clean up, etc.
In fact, the only complaints I have are with the things they seemed to have addressed in V2: threads, air hole placement, pouring. None were deal breakers, you just had to be mindful.
But now this thing looks bomb proof. Wish I could trade my old one in, but it still works!
I own this. It works quite well though the reservoir is not that large, as ChuckDee mentioned. It takes a minute or two for the temperature of a hot coffee to get cold - it's obviously not going to be instantaneous! Personally, I do Japanese style iced coffee - pouring a hot brew over lots of ice cubes. It works for me, but if you don't want ice in your iced coffee (or whatever beverage you want) this is a good product to chill any beverage down quickly without dilution.
Of course no one needs this. But it’s something that serves a useful purpose.
For example, over the summer I’ve been known to keep a big glass of ice in the freezer on a semi-permenat basis.
The idea is that when I come home on a sweltering day, I’d grab my soda, hard cider, or whatever from the fridge, pour it into the already freezer-chilled and iced-up glass, and have a near ice cold beverage in a matter of minutes.
Depending on what I was drinking, the glass could get re-iced and put back in the freezer for the next round.
For doubters, having an ice cold beverage right when you want it is a great thing. Of course, no one needs that. You could just take a glass, put ice in it, and pour in your beverage.
But let me tell, you, having that glass already frozen makes a night and day difference. Starting with a room temperature glass will never get your drink as cold as using one that lives in the freezer, the ice being equal. Not even close, IMO.
I haven’t used this device yet, but it seems to shoot for the same goal, but without the water dilution of the ice.
I got it from the Kickstarter (2 actually) and they work as advertised. The only issue I've had is trying an outsized cup of coffee as the reservoir is not that large, and the fact that they had me believing that it would go from hot to cold instantly, when actually you have to leave the liquid in the chamber for a while to go to cold. If it goes straight through, it will be lukewarm. But leave it in there for a couple of minutes, and it's more what I expected.
