Ah yes, IMR, aka Trinity audio. The company that was built on Kickstarter scams.

TostiTostelliIt grabbed my attention, then I saw acoustic nozzles, my blood starts running cold, confirmed with your comment about Trinity Audio, checked, yup. Glad to see my scammed money was used wisely, so even if they were the "dogs dangly bits", I'm passing. Hopefully IMR doesn't stand for I M(ust) R(unaway) with your money... Rant Over, going to lie down in a dark room till the bad thoughts go away...

TostiTostelliIt’s a good thing, then, that the name change has also reflected a change in culture. I have found IMR to be reliable. When the R1 Zenith came out, there was a phase problem with many of the units. It was a simple fix for mechanically inclined people, but IMR sent out replacement units to all, essentially giving away a free pair of IEMs, since returning the potentially faulty unit was not needed. It’s completely understandable why people who were hurt by Trinity would have a negative attitude toward IMR. That was a crappy experience and one I hope those people never again experience at all. However, I think lessons were learned through the Trinity failure and needed changes mobilized. IMR is putting a much better foot forward, and I would urge those who question this to utilize some Google-Fu and see for yourself. Those who have just interacted with IMR have had positive experiences, those haven’t but who went through the Trinity blunder share TostiTostelli’s thoughts. The Aten (first generation) was the first one of the IMR line I liked, and the RAH the second. Can’t afford this Aten at the moment, but I would seriously consider the splurge if I had the liquid assets.

TostiTostelliAh yes, another idiotic response about IMR. There was one indeed one failed Kickstarter campaign. Of course if you want to condemn someone forever for one bad experience well go ahead. Lets hope you never make a single mistake in your own life. I suggest those who are able to make their own judgments read the relative discussions on Head fi - People who who have actually been dealing with the company since its inception. Ive personally been dealing with Bob since the earliest days of Trinity and throughout IMR - Never met a more consciousous, generous and kind person in this industry. Im sure some people have had a bad experience but talking from actuations EXPERIENCE and not just an opinion...he is making some of the finest IEMs currently available on todays market and at a price that is far below what others are charging for sound of this quality

twistercooYou are missing something very special - How about you ask someone who has owned most of the IMR IEM's rather than just relying the internet ?? At the very least, read the relevant discussions on Head fi and make your mind up based on people actual experiences and not just what the internet says

lexsActually I AM speaking from experience, I WAS one of the people who got ripped off/scammed by Trinity even after the much maligned Kickstarter, I missed something special the 1st time round. Yes these may be great, and the reviews may not all begin with "thank you from XXXX audio for my free pair for an honest review"... But the scars cut deep... Seriously though, I will now take my leave and allow people who wish to comment on the good and bad of the actual earphones.

VictorfabiusThank you for your well put together, and friendly reply. Honestly, this does more for me, in gaining trust in IMR than anything else.

twistercooOK, so sorry to hear that buddy and thanks for letting me know. Your reaction and comment is of course more than understandable. It really is a shame that this happened, of course for the individuals that were affected but also for those who now may well [understandably] be cautious about buying from IMR. Its a little frustrating for me now owning 'end game' IEMs that are genuinely extraordinary knowing that some folks will just instantly pass them by due to events of the past. :/ All I can say from my side is that Bob has gone way way above and beyond for me personally in many ways...which is frustrating also knowing other people did not have a good experience . . . frustrating in that I wish others could also experience the excellence of the IMR Aten hybrid ceramic driver!!

lexsIm simply stating facts. Customers from Trinity were not given refunds, nor were products sent. You seem to take this personally, by calling my response ''idiotic'', and playing the ''you've never made a mistake in your life'' card. I'm also not condemning a person for a mistake forever, i'm choosing to not buy a product from a business that was funded by people actually investing in a product, that got nothing, and were basically treated like cash-cows. That does not sound like ''conscious, generous and kind'' behavior. I'm glad you've had positive experiences with Bob. But this does not apply to everyone. And people should know all the relevant information before purchasing a product from IMR. I do not know what your intentions are, but attacking those that put forward what happened, is a big disservice to the audio community.

TostiTostelliI apologise to you personally. Just a little frustrated at people who read something on the internet and declare it as a truth. Clearly not so in your case. I would counter argue that it is also doing a disservice to the audio community to blame Bob forever more for something that happened a long time ago. Should people be aware of what happened in the past? Yes, maybe but they should also be directed to feedback from since that time. Our experiences are and have been polar opposite (since Trinity days to present) so who's experience is the truer or more relevant? - We both have had a different experience. You can share yours and I can share mine. I respect where you are coming from but what IMR is doing/creating NOW is an incredible offering to the audio community and Im sorry but I can't get round that. As you say though, people can come to their own conclusions - Lets just offer both sides of the story? Fair enough?

TostiTostelliNot a Kickstarter scam, but a Kickstarter failure. Big Difference. They messed up, but you make it sound malicious. It was not malicious. That company went bankrupt. New company is legit with good products. And only has 1 member of the older failed Kickstarter company.

TostiTostelliI can second the positive experience. I bought the IMR Rah model. (the planar + main aten driver). I had no problems with it. I later ordered the PB2 & Halcyon model too, but canceled it later when I needed the money due to less work in 2020. I had no problems in communications in getting refunded for that. I don't want to silence you; your feedback is relevant. I just want to add that the company is stable now since your experiences. IMR Rah was a warmer sounding iem. With controlled subbass and okay mids. The treble was the a little soft. (This is an old imr iem that has nothing to do with the Drop listing above) I have kept the iem because I use my Sony ier-z1r for more treble critical songs. And use the imr Rah for long fun but non-fatiguing listening sessions.

lexsYou should know that it wasn’t “one failed Kickstarter”, it was the Kickstarter and multiple product lines that were never fulfilled, trinity lost out on the ill fated Kickstarter and tried to claw back money by offering preorders on a whole host of products knowing they were going under. This wasn’t just a case of a few people losing money on one crowd funding project (which is always a risk when crowd funding) it was a lot of people losing a lot of money to a company that blatantly knew it was in trouble.

Aw81Thanks - End of the day, the past is past. If we can't give people second chances or to learn from their mistakes then we are less than human. Im very sure we would ALL like to be forgiven for any and all mistakes we make & have made and are profoundly grateful too those who do forgive us and trust us to move on. All I will say is that what Bob is creating now is just beyond words and is light years ahead of 99% of other companies both in terms of products and service. If [all be it understandably] people dont want to let go of the past then they are the only ones missing out. Head fi has huge threads on IMR products that can easily be checked. I strongly suspect that there was more than 1 person involved in the company Trinity !! and I suspect that Bob is to a lesser or greater degree the scapegoat

lexsYou're not wrong in any of what you say, Im sure any iem Bob designs will be immaculate and I'd correct anyone insinuating that the whole fiasco was solely his fault, I just don't want to see things downplayed as a bunch of internet trolls angry over a kickstarter gone bad, it was far from that.

Aw81:) I don't think there is much danger of the 'Tinity fiasco' being downplayed to be honest! Your point is well taken. It is [arguably] important to raise the Trinity issue or at least for people to be aware but I think in this regard, dare I hope for a balanced reporting of both the past and maybe more importantly, recent developments. My heart very much goes out to all those affected by events of the past & my sympathies very much lie with their feelings but I hope people are directed also to what Bob is currently creating and his incredible customer support. In this regard, Ive known / been in communication with Bob since the early days of Trinity up until current times. Ive never known anyone who has been so kind, considerate and gone way way out of their way time and time again to sort me out. I also think that what he creating in terms of sound signatures is extraordinary. Anyway, its frustrating sometimes in this hobby when you enjoy something so much and just want everyone to share in your joy and experience of something. Messy Crimbulations to you :)

lexsI wish I could just like that letting go..... the money I lost there trusting Trinity Audio (about 250 euros) I am pretty sure that nowadays Bob acts responsibly and in good will But....... this "change of policy" cannot make up for all the trinity audio believers that got scammed really badly when Bob himself was still a member of the board there... I truly believe that IMRs work is high end stuff today... but sorry.... It's totally unacceptable to encourage this kind of behavior (even in the past) that is pretty much OK to steal other people's money and getting away with it... Do not forget... Many people like me were officially ripped off back those days.......

lexs"one failed kickstarter campaign??" Look dear.... I do not know who you are, and what you are trying to prove here, or to be more specific ...what kind of interests you are fighting for... Let me help you a bit here.... Back at those "glorious Trinity Audio days" a bunch of nothing less than common thieves decided to rip the heck out of us..... Back those days, mighty Bob presented himself as the "head manager" of Trinity Audio and outrageously as well as consciously deceived a whole community of loyal trinity customers there... That is what really happened I know people that lost more than 500 euros on fake preoders on items that never showed up....... Does the words "Hunter" or "Icarus IV" rings any bell to you??? We all were so naive to put our faith in Bob's word Instead of stepping up against that "massive steal" which was taking place back those days or even finding the courage to come upfront on public and admit his malicious plan he preferred to hide himself in the background of the events and get even richer maybe... IT WAS A TOTAL STEAL NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN I lost about 300 euros, many others way more than this It's not something that should be considered as a "mistaken policy" It was a rip off, period!!!!!!!! I only regret one thing.... I should have taken legal action against Bob and his gang back those days and stupidly enough I didn't... putting my faith to a man who has no dignity at all.......... So please.... You better watch out what you re writing here ..... OK??????????

alexandrosIm not sure how one can 'encourage behaviour in the past'. Anyway - No-one here is denying what happened. All I have said here is that the IMR products are TOTL and that the service that I and others have received from Bob has been above and beyond. Now 'dear'...my extremely positive experiences from Both Bob and Trinity does not negative the negative experiences others have had but conversely your extremely negative experiences from Bob and Trinity does not negative the positive ones that I and other have had or have any impact on the sound quality on present IMR products. You are understandably angry about what happened but all I am doing here is presenting the opposite side in which I have had nothing but good experiences. This is what a balanced argument is - Two opposing sides with two opposite experiences. IF the sound qualities that is being produced by IMR were NOT anything special then I wouldn't bother with commenting but as they are special I am making the effort to present or offer an opposing view point. What happened to you in the past was horrible - no one is denying that but if we ONLY dwell in the past then how can anything get better in the future?

lexsDear friend (if you don't mind calling you a friend) there's no point in getting cynical with you here.... And as you can understand my justifiable frustration due to what has already happened back those days not only in my case but in many others as well. As far as audio quality issues goes I really believe your judgment that IMRs products are of high audio quality Nevertheless, that and only that reason cannot be a prior one for me, to trust the same guy who shamelessly deceived me in the past. But...of course it's not the point at this discussion anyway... Just felt an urge to speak openly about what happened back those days.... No hard feelings... Take care...
