ShockolateApp integration is one of the most important things for a smart scale. This should be listed in the main description. Apple Health and Google Fit aren't the only integrations that people care about. They may also care about my fitness pal, fitbit and others as well. There are a lot of "smart" scales out there that are pretty much useless because of the software and integration support available.
Another thing I'd like to see in the description is if the scale has been FDA certified for accuracy.
A 5% error in fat measurement is kind of a lot. You'd think the brand did their research beforehand - which they probably did but don't care. How are the other functions working for you?
markoutsisIt's not any brand's fault— it's the only way to add any kind of fat measuring to scales, and the vast majority of consumers are unaware of the technology's inaccuracy so they include it because people buy it.
The brand of mine was Aldi (Australian Lidl) and it was actually kind of annoying . To measure fat, you would obviously use your saved body profile. Every time you switched to your profile, you had to wait for it to finish showing your last measured: weight, fat, muscle, bone, water, BMI and RDI calories. That meant you had to stand around for ¬60 seconds, and if you didn't step on within 10 seconds after that it would auto shut off.
F*** those scales.
There are several indications that this item might have problems. 1. When I entered the web address given on the box I was warned that “this may be an attempt to obtain personal information“ 2. The phone number given on box doesn’t work. 3. when I downloaded the app on my phone, the only stat it gives is my weight. 4. After installing the app, I tried to move it to another scree. Instead of the icons showing that they were able to move (by wiggling) the only given option was to share. I was able to remove the app but I don’t trust anything about this scale other than the weight number given.
Anybody know if this integrates with Google Fit, Strava, or Garmin Connect?
I see one post from 40 weeks ago that it only works with Apple Health; I'm hoping that's changed.
Massdrop, I received mine this morning. The Kisslink app is apparently not available in Japan.... so I cannot use the features as purchased. I have tried to use a mobile VPN as a work around and it doesn't work. Please contact Kisslink and make the app available for Japan.
Tried again to use the app through Apple Health. It doesn't work.
EDIT: thanks William, the app is now available in Japan, and has synced with Apple Health app.
MichaelTThe App is now available in all countries on App store and Google Play. Please try again. And It could link with Apple Health only after you install the app.
Can someone cite an independent study showing the BMI function actually works on this scale? It should be impossible. Or even, MOST of the functionality of this device. I can guarantee there's no way this thing can independently verify your hydration. Is the idea like fitness pal - where you enter all the information and it gives you a vague/incorrect idea based on your entries?
GambLIf you enter your height, and then stand on it, that's all it needs to calculate bmi.
The other values are estimations based on electrical conductivity I.e. Fat is less conductive than water. So based on how well electricity can move through your body from one foot to the other, it can estimate how much fat/bone/etc is making up your weight.
GambLIt’s my understanding that the pads on the scale measure electrical conductivity through your feet and they instruct you to weigh yourself barefoot for that reason. But I agree, it’s probably only an estimation.
