This full-retail price makes no sense to me on Drop. I don't see any reason not to just get it elsewhere much faster and possibly cheaper. That being said, I just wanted to put in one plug for this item. I thought the FREE products were going to be a gimmick but bought a few out of curiosity. I own 14 Leathermans, spanning their entire range of products. This P4 is my favorite tool they've made. Not trying to argue with @Notsurewhyibother (just have a different opinion), but I personally prefer this over my Wave+, over my Charge +, and the list goes on. The tools feel nice and solid and I much prefer the new locking mechanism. But yeah, buy it elsewhere...
TinkerTomReasonable people can disagree and I'm glad you like yours. It's very well made and the magnetic closure thing is really interesting. I think I was bummed out at the tool selection and that combined with the higher price made this one a "no" for me. Comparing to the cheaper wave, having no bit driver is a big loss. Then trading the full sized file for one less than 1/3 the size for scissors that are only very slightly bigger than on the wave seemed like a really odd choice. Why would I want a useless inch long ruler? Why would I need a "package opener" on a tool with 2 different knife blades? Conversely, why would I want a sharp edge on a tool I might use as a screwdriver or prybar? Why put screwdriver tips on ALL THE THINGS whether it makes sense or not (awl with a flat tip... okay) To me, it seems like they spent all of their time/budget on the "gee-whiz" magnetic closure and didn't think through the tool set. This and the "one hand operation" seems overblown. I can open anything on my wave one handed fairly easily when the need arises. Which isn't that often. Thankfully they make a variety of tools, and I am glad that they are trying new stuff. I'd love to see them do a bit driver focused tool alone the lines of the Gerber Centerdrive (without the Gerber quality issues).

TinkerTomI completely agree. If I can't get something one-of-a-kind or that's a deal, why would I buy it from Drop?
Yeah, this is retail. It's also way overpriced compared to other offerings from Leatherman. The wave+ is better and costs $40 less (use that $40 to buy the bit set and extender and it's much better and still cheaper). The Charge is much better and costs the same. The surge is better, has replaceable saws/files and is $10 less. The Free is a silly gimmick that has worse tool selection than cheaper leatherman. Purchase only if you care more about flopping the handles around than using the tool. Oh, and if you require one-hand operation and can't manage with a wave, the oht (one-hand tool) is $90.

I feel bad for whatever sucker s actually bought this without checking the comments first at least. I came here because I did see the email and thought a leatherman on sale would be nice. But saw the pricing and was disappointed.

How is this even a "drop"?! Leatherman tools can be obtained with at least 20% off during sales that occur regularly. Why is this site offering pre-orders at RRP??

FeebleOldManDrop's offerings seem to be dropping off (no pun intended) -- it almost seems like this is just a filler offer until something else gets lined up. Drop isn't what Massdrop used to be, sadly
So, retail, but I have to wait for it to be delivered instead of getting it tomorrow via Prime?

njgphotographyExactly my thoughts. Retail price, nothing exclusive/unique, slower than Amazon... what am I missing? Seeing more and more of these that feel like contrived/manufactured scarcity, at full price no less, makes me less and less interested in Drop. If I'm not able to get something early, unique, or cost defrayed by the guaranteed order size... why am I here again? Certainly there are other e-commerce options that are some combination of easier, faster, or cheaper for off the shelf products.
