L5 Pro - A real piece of luxury, with glorious sound, but pure options. If only massdrop could go lower, for about 600$... 689$ is still too much , considering the market value.
AlexRomaAgreed on the price. While I wasn't really looking to buy this DAP, it looks very nice and I would be way more tempted to join if the deal was better.
As an owner I can say it is, so far, the best sounding dap you can get without going with A&K, but it is extremely buggy and the UI is wayyyyyyyy under-developed. Mine is currently crashing when playing 24/192 files. Sadly L&P seem interested in the development of new products (LP3) instead of concentrating in delivering a minimum viable product with the L5 pro.
So long as the DAP supports the MicroSD XC standard, it can support some extremely large sizes. Of course, the largest available that I can recall is 200GB. On my Questyle QP1R, I run two Sandisk Ultra 200GB MicroSD cards in both my slots so the L5 Pro will be able to read the size of the SD card. As for file sizes, FLAC compression is pretty good with no perceivable problems. Most modern processors should be able to handle even high FLAC compression.
If you really want to carry everything, getting a small dry case for your microSD cards. I keep one in my EDC backpack for school and travel. There's several options available, like Pelican's SD card dry case.
Excellent product, from the specs. But with flac file format it should sport at least half a TB of memory. 1/8th will just not hold a sensible amount of tracks. I tend to listen to random albums, not tracks. Sorry guys
