scottluThis is B Stock, so probably the hand crafting had some errors here. Now imagine how much a 1 percenter pays for a bespoke version. Or what kind of listening room he would have, replete with vintage single malts and Cuban cigars.
kawmichaha. I'm willing to bet YOU can't hear it. People who know what they're listening for or know what they're talking about sure can. Is it worth 3k?...totally different question.
kawmic"Pretty sure I know a lot more about hifi than you." hahaha. oh course you do, anonymous little man on the internet who's upset because he couldn't begin to afford this. hahaha
MotorradNothing at all to do with afford. I just think it's insane to pay waaaayyyyy more than it's worth. I mean you can't hear some posh design, right??
kawmicI have not heard this, but I have extensive studio experience with Manley and have owned several VTL products. Is it worth it? that's really up to you. Bitching about the cost of something like this is pretty dull and laughable. My experience with Manley is that you get what you pay for: Superb build quality, exceptional audio performance, questionable aesthetic choices and great customer support. You say you know so much more about hifi than me, but the fact that you're here whining about the cost and performance of Manley gear and spraying your empty, sad boasts indicates otherwise.
kawmicI doubt there's a Manley anything that's going to be confused with a $500 anything. You can gripe all day long(I know I have) about the cost of their stuff, but if you question the quality, you're gonna get laughed at. I do not like the looks of this HPA, but I did hear and early trade prototype and was floored. Way to blingy for my tastes, but the sound meets my expectation and then some.
jaffeHa. I guess that's what I'm trying to say. You've just said it in a much more diplomatic way. :) I doubt it will do for audio what their mic preamps of phono preamps, but I'm sure it's in its own class.
MotorradI hear you. I'd say that what I heard is in it's own class. The adjustments are different than any other HPA I have used. Simple and effective. Yeah, it's funny to hear someone who fancies themself an 'audiophile' droning on about the cost of Manley. I mean, have some respect lol. Those people aren't going to buy it anyway and yet they're trying to play 'bargain police'. lol.
kawmicfrom the picture inside, the it's using switch power , other than the case, don't see any expansive components . similar to APPJ 1502A. double the tube number, it should worth $300, plus nice case . maybe worth more .
kawmicSorry, champ, the only one being stupid here is YOU. In fact, you're doubling down on dumbass. First it's you can't hear the difference, then it's too expensive. Clearly, you don't know what you're talking about, but that never stopped bitter, ignorant internet phonies from spewing nonsense. $3k is not a huge sum for high end audio. Do I want one? Sure, if it was 1k cheaper and came in a more generic black box...though I do like the integrated headphone stand and the plain black is growing on me. I have enough amps in my world right now, thanks. You know nothing of Manley and despite your internet bragging and identifying as an 'audiophile', you know fuck all about audio...despite how much LZ you've listened to. LOL.
scottlu"similar to APPJ 1502A" LOL. in that they are both tube amps. That's pretty much where the similarity ends. Nice troll, though.
"don't see any expansive components" LOL... because properly designed and built tube amps need expensive (or expansive) components. phht.
"it's using switch power" LOL. yes it is using a switched power supply. And your point is? LOL
Dumb (@scottlu), meet dumber (@kawmic).
