Really? I see them all over. They even have them at Safeway, albeit for ridiculously expensive... just by them in a 12 pack online, easy to find for about $20 and last a long time.
You're probably right, but I still don't like it, I couldn't explain why but it has some cheap/unfinished feeling to me, like the maker was too lazy to add a button.
Sometimes you put batteries in stuff you rarely use and when you go to use it, there's a noticeable drain from when the batteries are "fresh". For those who've edc'd this light, have you noticed any at all? What kind of usage and battery replacement cycle are you seeing? I love my AAA copper Maratac and was just wondering about this since the batteries are more expensive and less common.
CR123 is a superb battery type. You only need to have a spare one... not so hard I think.
On other side, for me service in Massdrop is incredible. I always have obtained an even surprising feedback. As example my Maratac Copper did not arrive to destination as it seems to be lost by the transport company... they have offered me to send another. It is only made by number one shops. Thx Massdrop.
One thing good about primary CR123 is they have a shelf life of around 10 years and they don't leak like alkaline. So practically you can toss it inside your glove box or drawers and use it during emergency.
I'm using a lithium AAA for my Maratac as well, so for AA/AAA, you can actually choose between alkaline/lithium depending on your use, best of both worlds!
To all the flashlight newbs here (which I doubt will be looking at this light)
The copper is unfinished and designed to age. (see the pictures in the description)
It's not a defect and if you don't like the rustic look, don't buy it.
It'll also leave a metallic smell on your hands if you sweat.
