Massdrop does lootcrates now?
Imo this is silly unless you are in the US, and even then, with amazon you could just buy the headphones, prime next day.
So I consider this a "oh i needed $20 iems, and a chance at better, thats cool".
Curious to see how many people join the drop, and to not be so negative, I guess this can be exciting (for some).
I used to buy keys in rocketleague until I realized that reddit/r/rocketleagueexchange exists and the long term cost of keys is more than just buying the rarer items I actually want. No it isn't fun like opening a crate, but it is a logical approach to the end product. If I had kids I would be very nervous about these game mechanics being introduced to them.
PZevSo Ya I got the dual driver IEMs. They actually sound really nice, a super great upgrade considering I was using cheap MEE IEMs before. They look nice and seem to have really good build quality. After 2 weeks of consistent use there are no issues, still all in one piece and sound quality hasn't decreased or anything. The only problem I've noticed is the cable kind of rattles around where it goes into the headphone. Not super annoying or loud, but it's noticeable. It could easily be fixed by sticking a tiny piece of paper in there to hold it still. Other than that, 100% worth the $20 I dropped for them :D 5 outta 5 stars
PZevI agree with you, they are definitely a great pair of earphones on build and sound quality. At first I found them to be a little bit too bright for some reason, but aside from the cable issue you mentioned I have no complaints after 2 weeks of everyday use.
They are very fun to listen to in almost any genre I've thrown at them (not saying they can't handle everything, it's just personal preference to go with my Monk Plus for certain records), and considering their design they have a decent soundstage and imaging. It kind of makes you wonder HOW better would the Triples may sound.
Best $20 spent on a Mystery Box :)
BrodyBYou might not be alone but it's not that bad.
Worst case scenario you pay the same price + shipping and a long for a pair you could get on amazon with prime.
Best case scenario, you walk away with something worth more.
As @nantipaneith said, "Ask yourself if you want the lowest level drop for the price listed, and, if yes, then join the drop."
Following that, you either get what you want or better.
The math is good on this one if you want headphones. Expected value calculation (using current Amazon pricing) is:
19.99 x .75= $14.99
49.99 x .20= $10.00
99.99 x .05= $5.00
14.99+10+5=$29.99
With a floor of essentially even money, you have nothing but upside IF you are looking for headphones in this range. That said, the house still wins if you buy something you weren't actually looking to buy :)
In my experience you pay tax on what you pay the retailer for the product. No one pays list and that's one of the benefits of our free enterprise society, besides anyone can put any MSRP they want on an item . If they're not thinking and put the MSRP on the paperwork rather than what we paid they're just creating issues needlessly. My issue is I don't want a pink piston, that would be a waste of $23 plus tax . I travelled as a field tech for 47 years going cross border plus I've shipped and received boatloads of stuff with no issues. Come to think about it a "baby blue "piston don't float my boat either
beasThe majority of Pistons will be in the silver color but I understand your worries; If you do get a color you dont like it would make a great gift to someone you know for back to school or the holidays. Whats $22 to possibly get a $100 headphone or even a $70
Why do y'all keep promoting drops that end the next day? Howsabout letting folks know about a drop more than 9 hours before it ends. Is that too much to ask?
lowest cost IEM in the drop is $19.99 prime shipped on Amazon. But, if you join the drop there is a small chance of getting a better IEM or winning one of the prizes. I'll risk it, what's $20 right.
legonate416Listening to them right now, but I also have a pair of the triples. The Pistons get the job done, but the Triples are by FAR better audio quality. Much more range and depth. My advice, RUN to Costco and get a pair.
