Excuse my ignorance in this but I see people asking for a "desktop" version and I'm confused as to what this is. This isn't a portable option right? Whats the purpose/usefulness of having power input on the front of the unit? I was under the impression this was an headphone amp to be used at home aka desktop amp. I currently have a modi 2 uber/magni 2 uber and wanted to have an additional amp for listening elsewhere. Can someone give me ideas what this is used for? Its not simply a headphone amp for listening to music off of your phone right? I ordered this on a drunken night and now reading the comments confused as to what I'm getting.

awakeningosirisAs is, it is meant for desktop use. If you add 2 x 9V NiMH batteries (technically 8.4V), it can be portable.
Some people prefer to have inputs and power at the back, because for desktop use, you don't change those often, so it is neater to have them out of the way.
