After publishing the Objective 2 Headphone Amplifier design, NwAvGuy set out to make a DAC with objective quality to match. Processing up to 24bit/96khz files over USB Class 1 (no drivers required for Windows, Mac, or Linux), the ODAC has no audible jitter, meaning all your basic digital-to-analog bases are covered. Great with any amp, but designed to complement the Objective 2, the ODAC is the latest and greatest 2015 revB version, which offers significantly improved performance without any additional price. Thanks to participation from the Audiophile Community, this version of the ODAC features a few improvements to the original you won’t find elsewhere. For one, it’s designed with the same dimensions as the O2 Headphone Amplifier, offering a streamlined aesthetic when used in tandem with the amp. And in addition to the 3.5-millimeter output, we’ve added RCA outputs for near-universal compatibility. Use it with your favorite headphones, or hook it up to your stereo system or pre-amp.
The ODAC achieves reference-quality sound across a variety of levels. With a 24-bit resolution to sustain sound quality—even when the software volume is lowered—and a PCM5012A DAC chip, the ODAC can stand up to four-figure converters in a blind listening test. When used in tandem with the O2 amp, the ODAC pumps out completely transparent audio. To reduce jitter to negligible amounts, the ODAC is equipped with dual power supply, a natural frequency response of +/- 0.1 dB, and self-generated audio clocking.
The ODAC pairs perfectly with the O2 Headphone Amplifier, Click here to check out this offering from Massdrop.
