Just got my replacement and it seems that the hum/buzzing is significantly resolved but there is still some present about equally in both channels (rather than in the past more and predominantly the left) becoming much more noticeable after turning the volume knob up. If memory serves me right, this is still a large improvement but background levels are still not near the THX AAA 789 (though that still has some noise with sensitive IEMs...) or much cheaper solid state amps. Notes: (1) During the first few minutes after first power on it was noisy but seemed to get to the steady state I described above after that. Not sure why this changed so noticeably. (2) I am using GE 5654W tubes in front and the original power tubes from my first unit since both pairs would already be burned in from before. (3) Tested first (low impedance output) with Focal Elex and an ATH-A900X since both are sensitive (and relatively low impedance) and made the issue really obvious in the past. It is indeed less obvious with HD800 with the volume knob at the same level but still perceptible when nothing is playing and just "normal" background noise. (4) The potentiometer still has poor tracking at the lowest levels (but not as bad as my Magni 3...) (5) Chassis construction is better than my original unit which didn't sit flat on a table though new one still has a bit of the same issue.

npc2Glad to hear the hum issue is at least partially solved. I'm interested in hearing the pros and cons you've heard comparing it against the THX 789 when using high impedance headphones; does this amp holds its value?
