Yikes. I wish I read these comments before I ordered mine. I love my gent, and I got that thing in 3 days. This time, it's 3 days after I ordered and there isn't even an update on this weird NL tracking number. This seems like a cluster. Never would have ordered and just bought one second-hand. Damn it.

That's how Massdrop operates though. They take a large order upfront and pay the vendor for a bulk order which is why they (sometimes) can offer unbeatable prices. It's just that this is the first time I've ever received a shipping email with tracking information from outside the country.

According to the tracking info, my order (paid for in April) is still in the Netherlands. The projected delivery date was July 19, and I assumed (perhaps foolishly) this would be July 19, 2019. But maybe they meant 2020.

This is an agonizing shipping experience. I'm here checking tracking numbers multiple times a day as my knife makes slow progress across the Atlantic, in what I imagine to be a rusty barge, followed by loud seagulls. At least that's how I interpret the activity from the 4th to the 12th, followed by 5 days (so far) of "on transport to the country of destination." I hope the knife lives up to expectations, because this is exactly the kind of purchase experience I'd like to avoid in the future.

hello same for me : message from Drop telling the shipping was done on 4th of July. Then I looked at Post NL website and it seems to be ready to be shipped from Holland to France since the 15th.... but still nothing today... For my 1st order to Massdrop I receive my knife in 8 days... but not the case this time...

I just ordered mine a few days ago, and am feeling my experience is going to be the same. I will say that I won't be ordering from Massdrop again because of this. There are plenty of these knives on the secondary market, and I am not out $150 for weeks before receiving those.

I got an e-mail on the 4th/5th of July saying that the package was shipped. The package arrived Norway yesterday and will probably be delivered to me today. I tracked the package on this website https://postnl.post/. The last days I was also able to track the package on my national postal services website. Edit July 16th: Did not arrive today. Maybe tomorrow is the day. Edit July 17th: Arrived this morning! The box it came in was smashed in on one side, but the knife looks unharmed. Perfect centering and smooth action.

Ultimately I feel like drop messed up by allowing messages to be sent to all of us on July 4th saying our packages have shipped. The original ship date was listed as July 19th, and then adding 5 days on top of that we are looking at probably the same arrival time to our doors as the current situation presents. Getting a message saying it's shipped with a tracking number that is useless just raises everybody's hopes that it's coming earlier. I don't know their normal shipping process, but for all we know this could be what it looks like for everything coming from China. We could just be seeing behind the curtain on the international portion. Regardless, customer service and a little PR response and explanation would have been a huge difference maker in this discussion. When consumers are left in the dark they conjure up wild conclusions that help them understand the situation in their own minds (including me and this theory I'm writing now).

Simply applying the math, you might be correct. However, Drop does from time to time ship early and when they do, it doesn't mean that they "should" be permitted to credit those early days to the shipper's schedule and allow the shipper to drive or sail their vehicles shower to your destination location. If they ship on time, it should take 5 days for delivery. If they ship 5 days early, the delivery should arrive 5 days earlier than originally planned. So from this standpoint, math doesn't really work.

Drop tells me that they are trying to "improve" delivery times to customers by shipping directly from the Netherlands to individual addresses in the US. So PostNL would deliver to USPS who would complete the last leg of the delivery to each of our final destinations. Unfortunately, Drop is lying to us. They are not trying to improve on delivery times, but rather reduce their delivery cost. Drop advised that mine shipped on 7/4. Its now 7/15 and USPS has still not even seen my package. Tracking information is totally useless. It used to take 4-5 days for Massdrop packages to be delivered to me from their USA location(s). Its already been 11 days and the USPS 4-5 day clock hasn't even started yet. So, whenever PostNL finally gets around to handing the package off to USPS, that's when the additional USPS 4-5 day clock finally starts. If that were to occur today, the delivery timeframe would be 15-16 days, as compared to the 4-5 that it used to take. But its not happening today, therefore, the 15-16 days estimate is no longer even on the drawing board. So what do you all think about Drop's lies about trying to shorten delivery times to our destination address, when in reality, they are just trying to reduce their shipping expense? Write to them. Tell them what you think about being used and lied to as if we are all stupid. I did...

About the NL in the tracking numbers... Chinese online sellers often times use services of Holland Post by delivering packages to PostNL sorting center in Hong Kong. Holland Post transports items to its mainland Europe sorting center and uses it's logistics network to deliver packages all over the world. What is the carrier ? Mine is a weird tracking number that starts with RU. When I try to track it with Drop it sends me to a page with more advertisement than a NASCAR and no shipping info.
