It’s an Endura, which I have decided is analogous to a Glock. It’s boringly reliable, light, well made although not particularly sexy. It’s slightly fugly in typical Spyderco fashion. The steel is sharp in a way that demands careful and deliberate use. I’m pretty sure it’s as close to a lightsaber as I’m going to get. I will use and carry this because Enduras are made to be used and thumped on. The collectibility of this knife is there but I cannot resist cutting ANYTHING with it.

This is just a personal review. Despite the rediculous wait we all went through for this, I want to put that aside for this. Here it is side by side with a manix 2 sv110, being slightly longer overall but also being lighter. The Sg2 blade came shave sharp with no complaints on the blade. It's no magical steel but having been using it for a few days now I can tell this blade has outstanding edge retention. This translates to a draw back of taking a little long to sharpen if the time between honing or stropping are too far between. Only issues I can see in this knife is the un-numbered limited edition which seems disappointing due to the substantial wait for this, they couldve at least numbered them. Another thing would be the cerakote-ish bronze-sand color the back spacer displays. Not really gold in my eyes but I might just be picky. About the backspacer, they missed an opportunity to number these knives being that they are limited run, the backspacer or blade being a good place to etch it. As I would expect from any limited edition, I would like to know which one I got and how many were made just to make it more personal and unique to me. It exceeds expectations when it comes to performance: edge retention, weight, durability, and having a great locking mechanism. It just doesn't feel very "special" for a special edition.

I would like to have seen them serial numbered being a limited run but for the price and materials, it is excellent.

Very uneven back of the blade, like it was made by hand or by a disc grinder. Difficult to see in the photo but clearly it's not looking good on the naked eye. The other knife on the top is a cheap Ganzo G719 which is very precisely cut in comparison. REVIEW: I received mine a few days ago, and the golden paint is already coming off although I just kept it in my pocket. The black paint of the clip is also starting to go away although I was careful avoiding collisions. Also tried to open a beer with the back of the blade while the knife was folded, to check the hardness of the SUS410 steel. It made some permanent marks, whereas doing the same for many years with a 20$ Ganzo G719 Chinese knife (440C steel) does not leave any mark at all. I now know the SUS410 is there to increase rust resistance and protect the SG2 core, but it's really too easy to scratch. I find it disappointing. Also the plastic scales make me feel the knife is not very tough, the knife does not feel rigid and I am worried that one day the clip will just come off the plastic where it seems to be attached. I would have preferred titanium or even stainless steel scales for such a rare blade! But it seems that the only way would be to buy the 200$ titanium Endura to get them... I don't get why Spyderco does not sell the scales separately. The hole in the clip is not perfectly centered, it's a little off. I'm a little worried that the clip will lose its paint, actually it already started. The back of the blade is very uneven and honestly it looks like a cheap counterfeit. Has it been made by hand? It cuts okay, but not mind-blown by how sharp it comes from factory. All my ceramic knives are much sharper, so I guess I will need to sharpen it. Not easy to close with one hand, I tried and ended up cutting the tip of my little finger. One the plus side, it's lightweight, fits well in my large hands, and is easy to clip inside my trousers pockets. The sound it does during the opening with the thumb is satisfying. Overall quite disappointed for a 130$ knife, was expecting more quality from Spyderco! I owned previously a cheap copy of the Endura (Ganzo G737) that was much better machined and good looking. It's my first Spyderco and does not make me want to buy another one. Maybe I am unlucky. [EDIT 2 weeks later] I tried cutting a small green branch (about 5 mm diameter) and it made a long dent on the blade (5-6mm). And it's no longer razor sharp even where there is no dent. So much for the "exceptional" edge retention. Disappointing.

Didja try the one-handed close again? And I agree that Ganzo has unreasonably good build quality for the price, they will spoil you for other working-type knives.

OmniseedTried to close it with one hand the way you taught me. It's doable easily until when the blade is half closed, blocked by the index finger (a good idea by the way). But I have long fingers... And when I finish to close it, the lock spring makes the blade closing quite quickly. I almost cut my pinky again. :-)

Really liking the knife itself, great edge retention and light weight make it ideal edc. But just not sure if I would buy it again if I had known how long the wait was going 2 be.

Received my Super Gold Spydies last month, both Endura and Delica, and they’re both beautiful. The Endura is, out of the box, the single sharpest knife I’ve ever purchased, which is saying something; the Delica is at least as sharp as most quality $100+ knives out there. There’s nothing on which to fault either of them by most of the criteria which blade nuts apply . . . with one exception.  Neither knife had the blade centered in the handle when closed. The Endura was canted about 2/3 of the way toward the clip side, while the Delica’s tip was so far toward the show side that the blade was actually contacting the inside edge of the right-hand scale about halfway up the final grind! This was disappointing in any new purchase, but particularly unexpected in a Spyderco. Anyway, out came my TORX kit, with the thought that they would both soon be set right, as I’ve always been able to do before. No dice! No amount of scale and/or pivot screw untightening-&-retightening, frame torqueing or other finagling made a bit of difference in moving the blade tips from their original off-kilter locations. At that point, I took a closer look at the actual blades themselves, not just their alignment in the handles. That examination confirmed that each blade was actually warped away from the blade’s pivot-head plane, in the same direction their tips veered in the frames. The Delica’s warp was clearly visible by sighting down the blade, but was confirmed by clamping that pivot-head plane to a dead-flat surface (glass plate) on each side in turn, and then noting the differing tip clearances from the glass (I used several identical hard-edged business cards to measure the gaps). The same clamping procedure confirmed the warp on the Endura, though it wasn’t as apparent to the eye. The end result is that no amount of adjusting is going to center these blades, so long as the pivot head is held parallel – as it should be – to the frames’ sides. You’d need to somehow either asymmetrically shim the pivot, or twist the foot of the frame to the same side the blade cants to. I don’t know what’s responsible for the asymmetry on these two blades, but I suspect it’s some combination of an error in the primary grind and some warping connected with the (heat treatment of?) the SG2/SUS410 sandwich. I suspect the latter, particularly, due to the fact that the Delica blade, though shorter, has the greater deviation; and while the cladding line on the Endura is fairly even from base to tip, the line on the Delica veers suddenly, 2/3rds of the way down the blade, becoming then about twice as close to the edge on the show side as on the other. These knives are so nice otherwise that I'm sorta resigned to living with 'em as is . . . but this big a QC issue means I've gotta knock off a couple of stars from what would have been a clear 5-star review.

Alright troll, since you are having a hard time I'll point out that every product has its own review page, and there is no need to specify that the reviews are for the products themselves. You can bitch about Massdrop on Reddit like everyone else does, stop cluttering the product reviews with nonsense criticisms about the messenger of production delays caused by a third or fourth party.

OmniseedGuess that heel clicking didn’t work for ya Skippy. Speaking of hard time, did you ever find the caption indicating this was strictly for product reviews only? Since you have a severe lack of reading comprehension I’ll save you the trouble. It’s not there. So, I’ll continue posting customer service reviews under the heading of Reviews, and you can continue whining about the “clutter”.

The endura sg is essentially a sprint run. While its a little pricey when the zdp189 version can be had for about the same price, the sg is an exclusive limited to 1000 knives. The supergold steel is the only laminated blade that is all stainless steel to my knowledge that Spyderco offers and is what drew me to it along with the exclusivity. I collect enduras and also own several others including zdp, v toku2, several vg10s, and now 2 of the sg versions, one being a collector club version #156 numbered blade. I probably own 7-8 enduras total and love them for the size, yet easy carry and light weight. Im happy to have been able to snag a couple of these and if your like me you probably already have one. Now i need to obtain a hap40 and superblue versions along w the pakkawood version. Great knife and thank you drop for putting the deal together w Spyderco to bring it to market!
