Ok, the grind is a little uneven, I'm not crazy about the asymmetrical fuller, I wish the scales covered the liners entirely and out of the box the pull is a little strong. I can definitely understand that folks that paid full price would be a little upset.
Now, if you're still interested, the blade pops hair with just a light strop, the fit and finish overall is very nice and the ergos are amazing. I took it apart to polish the mechanism, lubed it with KPL (the stock lube has an unpleasant smell) and anoed the pivot collars (yes they're real titanium!) Now I'm in love with that thing, knocked the Benchmade Proper out of my collection.
After reading the reviews while waiting for my
MKM FARA M390 SLIP JOINT, I was thinking perhaps I made a mistake purchasing this knife. When it arrived I wasn’t too excited about it, until I opened it up! The FARA I received, absolutely beautiful! The Ebony scales have a beautiful grain

, the M390 blade is razor sharp, perfectly centered with a great walk and talk!
The blade is nice. I wasn’t expecting such a small knife to feel so nice in my hand. The scales have questionable finish. The frame is clearly a different metal than the blade, but I won’t be able to determine durability until I’ve used it for a while. Will update review in a year or so after more use.
I normally disassociate myself with slip-joint style knives...simply because I believe a lock blade offers more utility and safety. However, I was quite surprised after receiving the knife. It has a very strong spring to stabilize the blade of the knife. This along with the M390 blade material gave me more confidence in the knife. ...very nicely made knife for a great value.
Drop may have had a good idea once upon a time. Now they are just shooting themselves in the foot, over and over again by screwing their own customers. When they put things on "sale" for 30+% off, they've let people behind the curtain on their margins but worst of all, they've taken a huge chunk out of the resale price for those of us who were early supporters. Nice finger, Drop, just what I needed.
Upon receipt one of the scales was split at a screw point and had rough finishing. The grind was uneven. Drop customer service was excellent. They sent a replacement without requiring the original returned. This may have been due to the fact it was delivered to the U.K.
Second knife was finished to a higher standard and considered good value.
Overall surprised and disappointed with MKM’s quality.
The ergonomics, wood scales, and blade steel are all premium. However, the centering was off, and the blade was not properly ground leaving a dull tip which I had to knock down with some ceramic rods.
The knife looks great, however the edge looks like it was ground by a complete amateur. The centering is pretty good but I will need to correct the edge on a new knife and waste my time doing so...
This seems to be a nice knife. The scales are nice, the knife fits well in my hand, and the action (for a slipjoint) was above average. My blade was not centered - not enough to rub the frame, but definitely noticeable. However, for this combo of ebony scales and M390, my knife was well worth the price paid.
